What were PS3's LTD shipments last quarter? (approx) plz

Depends on who you ask. For some reason people think Sony shipped 2.1 to 2.4 mil Ps2's in the months of April-Sept. For comparison Sony only shipped 1.5mil in Oct-March and each quarter declined last year. Those people would say the Ps3 shipments would be at like 67.8mil end of Sept.

I on the other hand don't see why Ps2 shipments would go from 600k in Jan-March (2nd busiest quarter) to 1.2mil in April-June(2nd slowest month). I estimate the Ps3 closer to 69mil at the end of Sept and about 75mil end of December

So, as I mentioned last week, are people now starting to understand why the February 20th event was announced last week ... ?

I would estimate 74.33M-74.53M.

That's bot a good estimation but here we go...

Q1 FY2011

PS3+PS2 =  3.2m
PS3 = 1.8m (56%)

Q2 FY2011

PS3+PS2 =  4.9m
PS3 = 3.7m (76%)

Q3 FY2011

PS3+PS2 =  7.4m
PS3 = 6.5m (88%)

Using the same PS3 ratio from last year to this year (even so I think the PS2 drop is bigger than PS3).

Q1 FY2012

PS3+PS2 =  2.8m
PS3 = 2.4m (estimated - 66.3m LTD)

Q2 FY2012

PS3+PS2 =  3.5m
PS3 = 2.7m (estimated - 69.0m LTD)

Sony reported 70 million PS3 shipped as of November 4th, 2012 * my estimate fits *

Q3 FY2012

PS3+PS2 =  6.8m
PS3 = 6.0m (estimated - 75.0m LTD)

That's is what I can do for you guys.

Using the same PS3/PS2 ratio from latest year the PS3 sales reached 75m.

You used ratios and I used decline trends and we got nearly the same number. I ask time and time again why people seem to think Sony would reverse trends with the Ps2 and start increasing sales and all I got was an ambiguous response from sony from a general press release to give an idea on how the market is responding. I have no clue why people ignore objective values over ambiguous statements. Especially when the last solid figures provided by Sony are more inline with ours. The peole saying 2.2mil Ps2's need to explain why Sony would ship more Ps3s in October than November and December.

The good news is next quarter we will have only PS3 numbers

I agree for the most part, but I think the PS2 shipments were a little bit higher, because it is the last time retailers can actually order it.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Few days later when PS2 sale will completely stop, it will be interesting to see how Sony announces their financial (Maybe with combined PS3 + PS4 sales?).

Whys that? Sony never said the Ps2 is discontinued yet. They only said they stopped in Japan. As far as I'm aware that one article mixed japan up for the world. maybe the 20th will give us something
