Undertracking would explain it - that is, it could have been undertracked by enough that a more reasonable number would have downloaded it. I'm picturing maybe 200,000 downloads, which would mean it was undertracked by somewhere around 300,000. That seems more plausible to me than VGChartz numbers being accurate and there being 500,000 people who downloaded the game.
