And before everyone loses their marbles over the Gen '4' part of this, this is an internal set of definitions they are using set by DICE.

As Nirolak of gaf pointed out : "DICE defines generations based on when 3D came into being on consoles and EA followed."

It's an internal term

Doesn't excuse that they're basically counting from PS1.

that's just one explanation someone put forth..there was another that this must be realted to game engines they are making. But yes either way they are not using the conventional definition here, just an internal one

Either way their attitude towards the wiiu should be clear....not sure wtf happened between them and Nintendo

What happened is that EA wanted to build the Nintendo online network for the Wii U and base it off from their Origin system.  Nintendo said no thank you, so EA got a bug up it's butt....I've been done with EA for some time now.  There day is coming.

Stop hating and start playing.

Around the Network

"You can never count Nintendo out".

This phrase would not be notable, if I haven't heard it so many times before.

It is usually stated by people who either A) do not support Nintendo or B) were surprised at Nintendo's ability to survive after intentionally speaking against the company or ignoring them earlier.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

I think:If the Wii U was selling well noone would care what EA/Dice have said.

As Nintendo never was depending on 3rd parties they couldn't care less.(maybe dance party)

Ps360 fanboys shoud not forget:Nintendo will have strong games by the end of the year.Won't be easy to compete with a 250dollar wii u.

Can't disagree with EA this time.

The 'next gen' will only truly begin once Sony and Microsoft release their new consoles. Wii U seems more on par wiith PS3 and 360 which is current gen, some of its ports are even inferior, no accounts no trophies, etc, so I think it really doesn't deserve the next gen label.

10x is laughably impossible.

I made a mistake... it's 10x PS360... 6-7x the Wii U... sorry.

The Xbox had 4 times the FLOPs of the PS2. Based on rumored specs the Durango has 2 times the FLOPs of Wii U and the Orbis has 3 times the FLOPs.  Where is Viper1 when you need him?

Wii U to PS4 won't be such a huge disparity compared to Wii and 360. The diffrence will be around PS2 to Xbox1 at the very most!!!

That's what Nintendo fans dreams but the reality is other.

PS4 or Nextbox will have at least 10x (1000%) more power than Wii U... PS2 to Xbox is only 30% gap.

It's so sad you want your favourite company to go bankrupt.

Good, I am glad EA and other third parties are using their money on the platforms I like. I do not exactly consider the Wii U to be much different from the consoles I have owned for 5-6 years. I have said this before the Wii U came out and I doubt the Wii U will make me feel any different any time soon.

So according to EA, videogames began in 1995 confirmed lol.

Honestly though, this really is Nintendo's fault. All they had to do was not skimp out on the hardware, and have a showcase game for launch that proved the Wii U wasn't just a "me too" console when compared to PS360, and everyone's fears in both the industry and gaming community would be quelled.

Instead all we got from Nintendo at launch was one Wii game upscaled in HD, and another gimmicky party game to demonstrate the controller's capabilities, coupled with rushed ports of 3rd party games that still look better than original games made from the ground up for the console like ZombieU.

What should worry Nintendo is that there is absolutely no buzz about their console anymore.... people have practically forgotten its even out in stores. Ninty is going to have a tough time going up against M$ and Sony's E3 hype trains coupled with at least one new console launching this fall with much more impressive hardware to show off.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

I took it as they haven't released any gen "4" games yet. Even if there are games on the Wii U, they have been just Gen "3" games ported to that system.

This is what i got as well. People are overeacting and not taking the time to read it carefully. Or we have other spinning the quote to fit their own agenda.

I thought the chartz were smarter than this. i guess i was wrong :(

Every forum has their overreacters. It's just a part of forum life!

I think it could also be interpreted as them seeing gen 4 (their term not mine) starting when all three players games are in the ring . coming from a 3rd party  it makes more sense for them to see next gen games as ones that showcase the entire console spectrum  and that it really isn't complete till we have the 3 main players with games out.

Research shows Video games  help make you smarter, so why am I an idiot

Do any of you remember what happened last generation?

http://games.slashdot.org/story/07/07/27/1426259/ea---wii-caught-us-by-surprise

EA miscalculated by betting on the 360 and PS3 during the console transition, and it bit them in the proverbial arse.

It seems that EA is incapable of learning.
