It's a great service for customers but lol @ comparing it to XBL. They are two different services that offer two different things.

Yeah its wrong to compare them cause PSN+ is in every way superior and customer friendly.
And of course they offer different thngs...PSN+ is offering a lot of value in terms of free stuff for the customer and better quality for services both share.

No XBL is the entire experiecne from online gaming, apps, and so on. PS+ is a subscription based service that has nothing to do with online gaming and apps.

You have to pay for the same apps as PS players have to, no? PS3's entire online experience is free, so you can see why people say XBLGold compares unfavourably to Plus - which is an additional service, that is still cheaper than a year of Gold.

If you had paid more than 300dollars in the past years for the same sh!t you can get on other systems for free, you may also call it

for xbox "experience" and for ps3"subscription based service",as you need a reason or an excuse.

I think xbox live is good but far to expensive and 2dollars a month should be the maximum for this servic..oops,experience.

It is definitly better than Xbox live gold, wich i always refused to pay for.
I am still not personally satisfied with it though, because you lose acess to all your free games after you stop paying. If there was a time frame or something, like subscribing to one year or two after a free game release, it becomes yours forever. This way all your gaming library that was free goes poof the moment you stop playing or the service stops existing.
I like to own my games. Still, alot better than greedy microsoft. At least it made me ponder getting it.

PS+ is not only about getting free games, it also has early beta access, huge discounts and last but not least: automatic updates. Without even instructing my ps3 to do so the system itself downloaded and installed the GoW Ascension mp beta for me, saving me atleadt 1-2 hours of dling and installing.

ps+ may even be good for xbox live and Nintendo gamers.
The more 360owners demand such a system on their xbox for the money they are already paying for years the less MS can ignore it.Maybe it will need some time because the xbox fanboys will say"we don't need this, keep xbox live as it is and let us pay even more money" but most will ask for more than online gaming and cross chat.
MS will still make huge profits with xbox life, but not as much as they do now.
And Nintendo-well,they can't start such a service within the next two years as they haven't released enough games and can't offer constant support for Wii U+.

I bought ps+ just because of online game save(1ylod,2rrods)lost some save games(was partly my fault). Now I really like it(one year music unlimited for 12bucks) and I think it is a good thing for poorer people or teenagers with limited gaming budget.
Buy a ps3,pay 40-50dollar for ps+ .That's all you need to play 12 month dozens of games.

The thing is I don't see anyone from Nintendo or Microsoft demanding anything. Go all over the internet and try to find people who are asking for it.

I went on the internet and 90% of Gold subscribers I talked to wanted PS+ like features. Nintendo fans don't even have cross buy or trophy/achiev system, buy a ps1 game on psn and you can play it on psp, vita and ps3. Buy a snes game for Wii and you won't be able to play it on the 3DS. I'm sure they would love to have the advantages of PSN and PS+.

Live Gold will never be free. It´s a model that works.
I don´t know a single friend that unsubscribed Live Gold in the last 3 years.

I´m sick and tired of those pseudo-experts and true-fanboys ranting for everething to be free and blá-blá-blá...

I'm sure that a lot of people with both consoles are going to be swayed one way or the other. What would they rather have, 44 games or crossgame chat. I know there's more to LIVE than that, but I personally know several people who have opted for the 44 games.

I love PlayStation Plus. I fully admit I thought it'd work out terribly, and thrilled to say I was wrong. PS Plus stands as a shining example of how you deliver a compelling, rewarding videogame service, and exposes the competition as nothing more than a glorified seller of snake oil.

Now ... if it can get the PlayStation Vita Plus services kicking as much ass as the PS3 one, I'll be doubly impressed.

I LOVE Psn Plus. Will renew my subscription for sure!

I actually know quite a few people that have dropped gold over the years.  It really isn't that uncommon... People get busy and stop playing games all together all the time.  Subscribing to play online just isn't worth it in some cases...

I have dropped GOLD a long time ago, althought I still love and play my Xbox360, offline, and game online on my PS3. Both consoles are AMAZING, the Xbox360 controller is awesome and very confortable, better than the dualshock in my opinion, however, I love my PS3 too and Psn Plus is the best thing ever.

Its basically what Xbox Live would be like if it has a Platinum standard to its Gold and Silver. Xbox Live Gold is the equivalent of free PSN.

I hate Jim Sterling, but kudos to him for not being a raging ass this time around. I agreed with every single thing said in this article, and that's why I refuse to pay for Xbox Live Gold. I did at one point, because I was convinced by my Xbox playing friends that the PSN was glitchy, slow, and didn't work half the time, so if I Wanted to play games with them I needed XBL. Well, I paid for I think 16 months of Live, used it for maybe 4 or 5 months, and the rest went to waste for two reasons: 1 - My first Xbox 360 red ringed on me and I didn't get it replaced, and 2 - the replacement Xbox 360 is always making a grinding/whirring noise, so I'm too damn worried to use it half the time. Once it ran out in June 2010, I just didn't bother getting XBL again.

And seriously, I don't know how people are dumb enough to keep buying XBL. The downloads are a touch faster, and cross game chat can be awesome, but that's really all it offers you. Steam allows all of those features free of charge, and they all work better, too! PSN gives you more deals, and the speed and reliability are on par, even on the free service.

To be honest, I wasn't planning on buying PS+ for the same reasons other people don't buy PS+: I didn't want to pay an online subscription, and the random nature of what games make it to PS+ didn't really mesh well with my more pointed taste in games. Well, I've been proven wrong time and time again, and it's time to accept that PS+ is the only subscription I think I'll ever put money into again. The deals are just too good, the price is right, and the features really do help. Seriously, there's nothing as refreshing as going to bed, and waking up only to see my system has already done the updates for me. I know it's a small feature, but you ahve no idea how much it appeals to me.

I like the Xbox, I love its controller, and the system has some great games, but why in the world would I pay for a service that I can get free of charge elsewhere? Especially considering how many obnoxious little shits pollute XBL. I'll stick to my PS3 and Vita, thanks. (Though I will be getting the Nextbox alongside PS4 and WiiU when funds allow)

But seriously. Fuck Microsoft and their (effective) greed. Sony fucks up too, but the only real thing they do is in relation to the online passes, which doesn't bug me because I buy 90% of my games new anyway, and Online play isn't common for me.

My Console Library:

PS5, Switch, XSX

PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1, WiiU, Wii, GCN, N64 SNES, XBO, 360

3DS, DS, GBA, Vita, PSP, Android

eh, I still pay for gold.  Most of my friends have xbox's and honestly most of the 360 exclusives best features are their multiplayer.  I just wish Microsoft would pack in some more value or something if they are going to make me pay for it.  It will certainly be a big deal come next generation that will impact a lot of peoples buying decisions...

I always had confidence in the worth of PS+. But I also knew it was a service I'd never buy into. Why? Because it's too good. It's like subscription based crack. I'd end up wasting my life away on all the almost free games that and thus my life would be ruined because of PS+. So for my own good I must resist, and continue to resist. .
