Forums - Gaming Discussion - Update: Junction Point closure confirmed

Disney Interactive has confirmed that Junction Point Studios has closed its doors. The company was officially shuttered today.

In a statement, Disney said:

“It was with much sadness that we informed our teams today of changes to our Games organization, which include the closure of Junction Point Studios. These changes are part of our ongoing effort to address the fast-evolving gaming platforms and marketplace and to align resources against our key priorities. We’re extremely grateful to Warren Spector and the Junction Point team for their creative contributions to Disney with Disney Epic Mickey and Disney Epic Mickey 2.”

Yeowch. Has all this stemmed from the under-performance of Epic Mickey 2?

Not a good time to be employed in any of these slightly-below-AAA studios, really. Hopefully some of these teams who were taking on Vigil staff can pick up some of these people. Isn't Austin where Crytek literally just opened up a new studio?

I wonder what Warren Spector will do next.

i posted this already http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=153775&page=1

They made a Wii-game and it sells well, they make the sequel for HD-consoles and they go out of business. Remember when haters said Nintendo was killing gaming

To be fair, both Epic Mickey games left a lot to be desired. Hopefully Disney learns how to make games more effectively (like their movie and cartoon productions).

C'mon Disney, let Capcom do your games! You know they'll be good, just like they used to be!!

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

No no Junction Point released a game for HD consoles that no one wanted or asked for (hence the low sales on HD consoles) and the same wii userbase didnt bother buying it.

Very few people are going to miss them. But it's still very sad to see someone fall like that...I think next gen is going to be worse.

They made a terribly reviewed game, and it didn't sell well. Remember that it was released on two Nintendo consoles this time and they still went out of business?
