Are you planning to buy Echoes of Wisdom?

I already pre-ordered 6 42.86%

Picking it up soon 4 28.57%

Waiting for a sale 2 14.29%

No, it's not for me 2 14.29%

Total:14

So Age of Calamity has already outsold the N64 release of Majora's Mask, and Spirit Tracks, and looks to pass A Link Between Worlds, Link's Awakening, and Skyward Sword even assuming short legs.

BOTW's updated total is now 23.1m (21.45m for the NS version, 1.65m for the WiiU version).

Never thought I'd see the day that a Zelda game would be at 23.1M, and still going at the pace it is. Back in 2016 I was thinking 5M would be a decent expectation for the new mainline Zelda game, after we knew a decent amount about the game. When A Link Between Worlds released I was hoping the retro-style would have an NSMB-like nostalgia effect on fans and finally take the series to 10M.

But here we are today, it couldn't have gone better for the series.

I had it to do 8m based on it launching a new platform much like how TP did which many considered too optimistic and it still even blew that away.

Yeah I also thought 8-9M was a ceiling for the franchise, but figured BotW wouldn't make it that high because I was sceptical about the success of the Switch, so I figured 5M was reasonable. Sky's the limit now though, it actually accelerated during last year.

35th year of Zelda as a series as well and it could be marked with the launch of BOTW's sequel.

Same. I figured Zelda was destined to remain a critical darling but always live in the shadow, sales-wise, of juggernauts like Super Mario, Mario Kart, Pokemon, etc.

Let's hope it does, I'm starting to get optimistic. I still remember when they made a huge deal about Skyward Sword 10 years ago for the 25th anniversary. Time sure flies.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

On the other hand, let's be cautious; a lot of folks were sure BOTW would come out in 2016 because it was the franchise's 30th anniversary.
