Forums - Microsoft - Super TIME Force

I have seen no hype for this game but it's coming to XBLA and over the last few months as I have watched videos, it's become possibly my 2nd most anticipated 2013 release only behind Bioshock Infinite.  It's basically like Contra only with a time travel function. When you die, you go back to the last checkpoint and play again, only now you're playing alongside your ghost. And the ghosts do exactly what you did, they even still fire their guns and kill enemies. So if you die 4 times, when you start again, you're basically playing 5 player co-op with yourself as 4 of your ghosts are running around. Checkpoints are added by saving the lives of ghosts who have died. So if some enemy kills you and you go back to the checkpoint and then kill that guy before he kills your ghost, you can touch that ghost to make a new save point.

This adds a ton of strategy to the game as you can pick and choose which character to use and what they do and then set up awesome combos of ghosts that help you go through the level. For example there is a shield guy that is a defensive character. If some area is giving you trouble with a ton of enemies, pick the shield guy and just go through the area with your shield up. Then die and respawn as the machine gun guy and run behind your shield ghost. Suddenly you're working with yourself to clear the stage. Awesome.

MS gave the game some award at an Indie games festival so it gets a spot on XBLA. So kudos to MS for scooping it up and bringing it to console(s).

Been playing for a few hours. Game just oozes style and personality. At first it seems like a simple Contra knockoff with some rewind elements thrown in but then you play more and see how integral the time travel ability is to the game, how you master each level by doing it and you realize how good it is.

My favorite part is unlocking new characters. You can either save them when you stumble upon them or you also unlock these shards throughout each level and one actually gives you a time limit where if you rewind all the way back to the level, you have, say, 35 seconds to make it back to that spot before the time portal closes and that character is gone. What it does is it allows them to make the time element almost required to beat the levels, but also gives hardcore players who want a "clean run" aspect a shot and great incentive.

Bravo to MS for scooping this up and bringing it to Xbox.
