Forums - Gaming - What Xbox 720 and PS4 will take from PCs

Well, if it's true about both the PS4 and 720 having so much in common and both being easy to program for, then it's great news for the gaming industry. Game development, especially early on, should be quicker, with even more time and resources being saved on multi-plats. That should make everyone happy.

Still, can we really expect both systems to use basically the same hardware? That seems a bit hard to believe.

The OS situation will be interesting to watch. I have a feeling Microsoft is aiming at something complex with a ton of non-gaming functionality. Also, Sony, not being software driven like Microsoft, always seems to muck things up on that side somewhat, so I'm not entirely sure it's going to be as simple to program for as it should. It concerns me somewhat that the PS4 is rumored to only have 4GB of RAM but not if the 720 has an OS that sucking up a ton of system memory.

A lot of questions still to be answered.

Also, I would love to hear what is happening with the Wii U, if games in development for the PS4/720 are also being developed for Nintendo hardware. E3 is going to be so interesting this year.

To early to tell at the moment!!! Im very curious to see what the Xbox 720 has to offer in the video memory section it might have 4 gb DDR5ram super fast ram including the 8gb DDR3 ram for extra including to operating system and DVR abilities!! But If they push kinect 2 down our thoughts and go casual then the ps4 will destroy the Xbox because the hardcore gamers that grew up playing games will move to the ps4. Lets face It gamers buy systems to game not to dance in front of the TV like a 10 year old school girl. Who really uses the kinect to play forza!!! I love the Xbox and Ps3 for different reasons but next generation I will only buy one and thats the one that plays games.

Lol... Reason why there is no comments is because there are no Dragonball references in terms of power.
If the article said that consoles will go to 9000, you will get some traction with the crowd...

That's the best Dragon Ball reference for now.

O even better... the Orbis/Durango will use customized HD 7850 highly optimized for consoles with some others processor for specifics tasks... that HD 7850 will reach or surpass the top high-end graphcs in PC to date (GTX 680).

I mean more cards will be released by winter 2013. Problem is the cost will be $300 at minimum : /
