nah it's done so because of the nature of the game. Without it GOW won't be..gow basically :)

OT: I can't wait to see the final build. Hopefully the next SP Demo (got early access baby! Spartans!!!!!!) will be closer to the final build. The improvements these guys make are crazy. I mean yesterday they showed updated images of the MP character build...so much has changed and improved

so hyped

God dammit why did they put me into the Trojans side. We never win...

easy fix..make another account there as a Spartan :P that way no matter who wins..you will win too!

seriously did you see the website post by Pappy? They listend to pretty much ALL our suggestions. It's amazing really. Not all devs do that.

Here's the update info

http://www.godofwar.com/en-us/blog/thank-you-exclusive-first-look/

oh and the new chapter of Rise of the Warrior is up people! Get to it and win those friggin beasting armors (whoever does armor designs for this game should get a bonus...so creative and awesome looking)

the latest chapter unlocks concept art for the Kraken Armor and also a brand new GOW Wallpaper...and again, whichever side hits the target score will get early access to the brand new SP Beta they will be bringing next month

But does it reduce or enhance the graphics if the camera is fixed or not?

fix camera enhance graphic

Once again, no. What it does is off load resources to others pieces of the engine. Doesn't work like that with every one of them, but in this case, it does. You should do a little reseacrh here (including read the very article this thread is based on), would really benefit for the point of discussion.

Fixed in game camera frees up memory much quicker than camera that isn't fixed that can be rotated anywhere. This makes a big difference on memory gimped consoles like PS3 and 360. If god of war 3 had a non fixed camera in the state its currently in, the texture pop in, missing limbs, dissapearing background elements would be quite funny to behold.

Yep the character models look much more detailed imo..same for weapons.

Negative, thats exactly what it does. The game is able to save on many resources by using a fixed camera as it isn't rendering any elements far outside players field of view. Boot up one of those cool emulators like Dolphin or NullDC and see how some static camera games look on multimonitor setups on PC.

Not to mention it's visually boring to have a camera stay static... Being able to rotate alone at a smooth frame rate adds to visual appeal of a game.

I agree regarding 3rd person cam vs fixed camera. However, for God of War, it works, and wouldn't feel like it otherwise. Thus, they keep that style.

That's fine if it works for fans of the series...I didn't mind it in the old PS2 games but since 3D camera movement became the norm it really bothers me. Same reason I didn't like Lords of Shadow. Static camera just bores me control wise as well as visually.

I'm also saying that the reason why they are able to use high res textures and render pretty effects is because they don't have to worry about any elements outside the FOV. They have a lot more memory to work with when they know they can drop textures and other game elements as soon as they are no longer in the players FOV.

True, but then no other game with fixed camera has the quality of God of War. This would then lead to either the team's talent, the PS3's hardware, or both.

I agree, its certanly better looking than something like Lords of Shadow. But hardly anyone is attempting fixed camera games these days due to being an outdated form of game presentation. God knows how good Gears of War would look if the camera was fixed...

Same could be said for Uncharted =)

Arguments everywhere!! if you came here to say the graphics/fixed camara suck get the hell out and let us praise the suckiness.

Disolitude is one of the most technically sound guys on the site. I don't think he just came here to "s&^% on anyone's parade", but as a PC gamer, he's offering his take on why the visuals are so good. I agree and disagree with bits, but he's not even close to taking too far.

Isn't he saying that the reason GoW looks as good as it does is because of the fixed camera? I'm not a technical guy but if it was that easy then a lot of developers would be doing it to improve graphics.

Suckiness FTW!

@ CGI-Quality

That's basically what I was trying to say.  Does GOW3 look better than KZ3 and UC3?  Yes.  Does it look a lot better?  Hell no.  Yes, fixed camera can give you an edge, but even if GOW3 had a free camera, it would still look stunning.  And still blow many multi-plats, as well as most 360 exclusives, out of the water.

Question - This still using fixed camera?

edit - Looks like it does. That blows...
