Forums - Sony - Will Minecraft Make An Appearance on The PS3 and/or Vita?

This is just a question that has been on my mind lately. I've tried to look it up on the internet to find anything but am having a hard time finding solid evidence that Minecraft will come to the PS3/Vita (Would be cool on the Vita TBH). So does anyone know why it hasn't come out on the PS3 yet? Does Microsoft have some sort of agreemant with Mojang that says they can't make it available to rival console competitors? Does Notch dislike Sony? Anyone know?

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that micrisoft paid mojang a hge amount to keep it exclusive to xbla. I'll try to find the link. I love t on xbox. Aven't tried on pc. But, would love to see it on wii u. If sony gets them to put it on vita, I'd definitely purchase a vita.

Im sure MS made some sort of agreement with Mojang because after the sales MCXBLA got in XBL. Im sure Mojang would love to port it to the Ps3.

If there was no agreement then we would have heard some sort of development by now.

One thing im woried about the Ps3 version is that I dont know how it will handle a RAM intensive game like MC. The performance it got out of the 360 was an achievement but with a system with a split RAM like the Ps3. MCPSN might likely perform worse than its XBLA brother. Not just slightly worse.. but WAY worse. IE: lower draw dist, smaller world, lower framerate.

But hey,who am I to know...

Yay!!!

I think it would be really cool on a handheld. The only handheld that offers Minecraft (That I know of) are phones and Ipods etc. Those versions have potential but I just can't stand the touch screen controls. Would be a perfect fit for the Vita especially with the dual analog sticks.

If RAM is a worry than it would be better off developed on Vita. Well it would be easier to develop for Vita regardless wouldn't it?

Maybe that agreement, if it exists, doesn't cover handhelds. Though if it specifies PSN then that might be a breach too since Vita games are all available digitally.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

I'd probably buy a Vita for me if MCVita performs up to my expectations. I would love to see MC on such a powerful handheld.

Yay!!!

If Minecraft is exclusive to XBOX then why did Notch(i think) say they would consider bringing it to Ouya?

Im pretty sure microsoft paid for exclusive rights for minecraft. It may be a timed exclusive but if it is anything like Castle Crashers it will have already hit the market so hard that it will have a hard time seeing success on it afterwards. A lot of people have multiple platforms now would be the main reason for that.

Regardless though I'd like to see it come to ps3/Vita simply so the people who only own one console and cant run it on pc can enjoy the game too.

That's me. That game is unreasonably demanding for what it is.

Yeah it has something to do with the RAM and maybe CPU(not postive).  The world is pretty massive too and it is actually stripped down on X360.
