Forums - Nintendo - Windwaker remake is the system seller for me, hope Nintendo remakes more Gamecube games

Gamecube best Nintendo console

NES/SNES 38 38.38%

Wii 21 21.21%

Gamecube _O_ _O_ 40 40.40%

Total:99

A remake is very welcome but NEW versions of Zelda, F-Zero, Pilotwings, Mario Kart, Metroid, Wave Race etc will be far more likely to sell systems. I am a bit different to some other gamers, rather than pay good money for games like Wind Waker then sell them 2nd hand and get bugger all for them I kept them. Have every Nintendo console and a swag of games for each, and still play them. Remember next time you go to trade a game for 15% of what you paid for it that one day you will want to play it again......

i don't like the idea. I know why they are re-making zelda though, because the wii-u zelda is probably 3 years away.

From memory i think they also mentioned in the ND that they using this as an eperiment with graphic styles before a new zelda comes.

I hope they continue experimenting and do this:

shame it is a fan made video lol

While I appreciate a remake, of all, Zelda which in of itself is a great welcome (since it is Zelda!), but I hope this does not becomes a trend where before "The-Next-Big-IP" they would release one other remake (possibly overpriced) for the time being.

I already could not understand how they would charge the same retail game as is on the eShop for the same price.

Eh maybe if it was a new Zelda game.

I'm generally anti-remake, even if it's based on one of the best video games ever made. But at least the game will be modified in some way, and not simply given a new coat of paint.

P.S. I looked up the sales for Wind Waker...they were really impressive. This remake could sell quite well.

Its a system seller for me too, not sure there are many other remakes I would want nintendo to invest time in though. Maybe starfox adventure... Otherwise I'd much rather them focus all their resources on new titles.

Could you explain why you'd want to play the same game again with better graphics, for $350? You can play the one you own right now for $0. You can even get upscaling in Dolphin if you absolutely can't play in 480p any more. Also you won't be able to use a Gamecube controller on the new version.

I can emulate the shit out of Windwaker in 2560x1440, but it doesn't even come close to look anything like the remake.

This really shows the capability of WiiUs DX11 gpu.

Best troll thread this week. DX11 gpu funny stuff man.

Remaking Zelda games at the start of a console cycle has become a sort of trend, and I don't mind it at all. Our first GBA Zelda was A Link to the Past, GameCube technically had Ocarina / Master Quest before Wind Waker (though as a pre-order bonus), 3DS had Ocarina 3D, even Wii launched with a GameCube Zelda title, although it was a port rather than a remake. And let's not forget that GameBoy Color's first Zelda title was Link's Awakening DX, and one of the second Color games (Oracle of Seasons) was originally intended to be a remake of the first Zelda.

Zelda games are a pretty safe bet for remakes. It's a long-running series with 16 major installments, and almost every one of them is highly critically acclaimed. Remaking an older game is a good way for the team to familiarize themselves with programming for a new console while level designers are working on the next adventure. And, as Aonuma pointed out, it appeases us fans who have an unquenchable thirst for more Zelda all the time.

Zelda is actually pretty much an annual series, but not the same way that Assassin's Creed or Call of Duty or even Mario are. Zelda releases are spread across multiple platforms (sometimes hitting three or four different consoles in a row), and rarely offer 'repeat' experiences. So maybe this year we get WWHD, next year we get a 3DS Zelda, the year after a Wii U Zelda, the year after that maybe something different along the lines of Four Swords (or the series takes a year off), and it continues.

an HD port as systemseller-lol.

If you announce an HD port for ps360 of a similar game with similar quality people couldn't care less.
500k-1mio units will be sold. That's it.

What is so amazing about wind waker HD?Nothing. The only amazing thing will be that Nintendo will try to sell this games for full prize, just like they did with OOT.
Nowadays a new MGS is selling better than Zelda, but noone has become ecstatic about MGS 3 HD or called MGS HD a system seller(and MGS HD has 3 games in 1,wind waker is just 1 game)

Maybe Wii U owners are a little bit desperate now(like vita owners) that they are thankfull for every little game but
it's the same situation for Wii U now Nintendo Fanboys were criticizing the Vita for.
Almost only sequels(and i'm pretty sure mario cart is more HD using old tracks but new.)and games everyone knew that they will be released.
Vita was criticized by nintendo fanboys for virtua tennis, uncharted, wipeout, fifa

nintendo is worshipped for doing the same with mario3d,mario cart(the same games that were released in the past month for 3ds,being released again on wii u=boring)and wind waker.
that's pathetic.

Now I"ll try to find out what was so amazing about Nintendo direct.I've only heard about games everyone  knew that they would be released on wii u anyway.

Wii u had games I want from the get go and is getting new games. The vita has nothing exciting before it was released and nothing to exciting that has been announced now. And wind waker is one of my favorite games. Thanks to my disc getting messed up after loaning it to some one I was only able to barely beat it once. I wanted to play again. Now is the time. And I have the system but I did not get it for this but it was a hope and that hope is true.
