Forums - Nintendo - Wind Waker remake and Brand new Zelda game confirmed for Wii U

Looking at the character models, it looks kinda freaky. The appeal of the first art style was that it looked like hand drawn animation. The new one looks like claymation from hell. It's a day one purchase and it will be awesome but I hope somebody has sense enough to make it look like a hi-def cartoon.

Cool. I held off buying a used copy in the early days of Wii ownership, and regretted it when I simply stopped seeing used copies available anywhere.

Is making HD remakes all they could do? It looks good, but I thought Nintendo was innovate copying Sony won't help.

ehh remaking games is not a new thing for Nintendo >_> this time they just have HD in the remakes

If Nintendo was innovative they wouldn't be RE making their old games.

I hate people who sugarcoat companies.

I can't believe how much better Wind Waker looks on Wii U, it was visually stunning to begin with but now it's looking pretty amazing.

Since they're 'tweaking' the game I wonder what the chances are of them adding the scrapped dungeons? Either way it's my most anticipated game of the year.

wind waker is sooo pretty in HD.

Way too much bloom, but I'm sure they'll change it before release. They probably began working on this only recently, when they saw the sales beginning to tank (or not meeting their expectations).

Pretty sure from Aonuma's comments that it's development springs out of experiments with the WW engine ... perhaps they were trying to see what cell-shading would look like for a next-gen Zelda and it looks like they rebuilt a section of Wind Waker, but liked it so much that they decided to go ahead and remake the entire game that way.

This probably also means the Wii U Zelda will have a more realistic art style ala OoT/TP since Wind Waker Reborn will give people the more cartoony style. SS was also partially cell shaded too, so Wii U Zelda will probably be different.

One flaw I had with OoT3D was that the better graphics really showed how empty the landscape was. I hope Nintendo adds little things to fill up the areas and make the world seem really alive. Fish swimming in little pools, worms climbing trees, flocks of birds in city streets--a bunch of stuff that doesn't effect gameplay but makes the world just that much easier lose yourself in.

Am i going to buy a Wii U for Zelda? Pshhhhh i bought a WiiU first week specifically for Zelda.

WW is a great choice because it was under-appreciated and not a lot of people (like me) had a gamecube. For us it's like a brand new Zelda game. Also, since it's from that era, it can be updated fairly easily I'm sure....as opposed to MM which would really need to be build from the ground up to look this good. I can't get over how good the HD update looks. I wish it was out this summer!

I love how they introduced this while saying the Zelda U was in production. So hyped.
