Forums - Website Topics - Are Mods Here Paid? Among other questions.

Title says it all.

Do you get paid on the more "classier" sites such as Vgchartz? If you work for free, why do you do it?

How does it work around your job schedule?

Would you put this on your resume?

Do all mods have a weekly schedule to ensure that a mod is online at all times, even the 1-6 am. shifts?

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Me - "I like how everyone seems to want your job recently. Time for a raise!"

Axum - "Lol. I need it doubled, to 00."

Me - "They pay you -2$?! Go on strike Axum. You deserve more than this!"

Axum - "The mods are [g]oing on strike!"

Only in bribes

Sexual favours.

They don't do it for the money, they do it for the power. I would sell my own mother to have that kind of power.

Wouldn't think so.

No, no pay, and no coordinated schedule. We just kind of work as we can, when we can. Some of us (cough, MontanaHatchet, cough) disappear for weeks on end, only to come back and do something before they're off again.

However, i rarely see a mod job that sits in the queue for hours on end (unless its something that i feel is too complicated to tackle, or that i'm really on the fence about and want to see what another mod does, or its an IP check, which only Kantor, Torillian, and Axumblade can do), so we are, at least, covering the work that's there, and it's only occasionally i catch a post that's worth moderating that someone hasn't reported, so everyone (users included) seems to be doing their job.

As for work-life, Smeags works two part-time jobs, Kasz is nocturnal, trasharm is working an inhumanly high number of hours per week, and Axumblade is temporarily between work. I make a fair bit of noise about unemployment, so i'm on all day pretty much every day, until that damned federal background check comes through. What happens then will be interesting to follow...

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

As for the schedule... the Mods try to have at least one person watching the site at all times. (I think) They do that by "hiring" people from different time zones on.

If we were really trying to do that, we would have picked up an Aussie or a Kiwi. As it is, Smeags, Trasharm, and I are on Eastern Standard, Kasz is on Pacific, Kantor on Greenwich Mean, and Barozi on European Standard, so we have a hole stretching through the Far East.

That's what one Mod told me so that's why I said it. Maybe they were just joking.
