Yay for great reporting. What a load of horse shit.

It isn't the county that's a mess it's the news media over here. Stupid as stupid can be.

What's horse shit? The OP acknowledged that this is indeed a problem in UK. Or am I missing something?

The original report is horse shit. Snow isn't going to cause a triple dip. If a triple dip is coming then its coming. Nothing to do with a bit of snow for a few days.

Ah. That part. Makes sense. But there will be some effect (however negligible) if people can't (or won't) get to work. Which does raise questions about the competence of city officials (and work ethic of the general public as well) if an inch of snow can't be dealt with. Schools close and people don't go to work when there's an inch of snow??? That is ridiculous. Really? An inch??? We get more than 2 inches every single week where I live, with occasional 6"+ snowstorms. We've been sent home from high school once because of weather, and that was at the start of a storm that prevented you from seeing more than 5 meters in front of you. And we haven't had a single day of university cancelled due to weather in the past four years.

Is the economy that bad over there that it can't deal with a few days/weeks of snow?
And I figured Britain has had snow storms before...

Yes we have, but snow is so infrequent and usually only last a week so we never really prepare for it. I was quite exasperated on Friday the two 'major' stories on the BBC News website were the Algerian hostage crisis and the country wide snowstorms. Out of the two, the one that got the minute-by-minute live coverage was the snowstorms.

:/

Wow. I don't know if it was said in the OP but, how long do you guys expect to have this blanket of snow?

We don't know but it's currently expected to last till mid-February although i don't trust long range forecasts as they are normally wrong.

I wonder if people will still stay home from work if it lasts that long...

At least half of our country can still work during the Winter.

true, but that has nothing to do with the incompetence of the Congress, and the people who voted for them.

Sorry it is causing problems, buuuut I am thrilled to see it is nice and icy cold with loads of snow as I am heading to Europe for my winter holiday in a couple of days.

Yeah, it is really beautiful when everything is covered with snow *-*

It is quite pathetic that everything comes to a standstill over 6 inches of snow, but I'm not complaining, I've got a day off school tomorrow (going to play Journey!).

Probably but it won't stop me. i love the snow anyway, its beautiful. it couldn't of happened at a better time, as it's birthday tommorow. It's like an extra present to me :) Also it's there own loss if they choose to not go to work, as soon as they realise it is not going anywhere, they should carry on with their lives, unless they don't want money
