Forums - Sony - If the PS4 is not B/C with the PS3's purchased online wares, I will need to be compensated.

You agree to terms and conditions. So Sony can do whatever they want.

Yeah...I get that, and this isn't really about legal obligation here.

This is more about "customer's always right".

Kinda like, how when you buy most things at Best Buy and Walmart, and they obligated to take the return if you don't want it or change your mind.  Best Buy & Walmart aren't actualy legally obligated.....but they are obligated via INDUSTRY STANDARD.

Or you could just keep your ps3?

When I want to play ANGRY BIRDS on my new IPHONE, do I need to keep my old IPHONE 3G or GSto play it?

When I buy a new computer, and when I want to play HALF LIFE 1 & 2 from Steam, Do I need to break out my old rickety computer out of the ol garage to play those games?

When you buy a mac, can you run all of your steam games?

Different platform, different code.

Terrible analogy.

Of course you can't play WINDOWS BASED games on your MAC.

Terrible analogy.

And yet, you expect cell based games on your x86 cpu.

Same brand...yes.

I expect Sony to take care of it.....by any means necessary.

PSN is a huge playstation online contents now just what makes you think PS4 will ditch it?

you can run all steam games on a mac ...
a mac is just a 'pc' with the possibility of a special os.
if you install windows on it (e.g via bootcamp) which many mac gamers have done you will have no problems playing pc games on the mac.

if you are talking about mac os its the same with like linux or other different os. only supported games will run.
but as I sad just install windows on it and no problems at all :p

ot.
if you are talking about psn games I think those will work on the ps4, since they dont need that much processing power. native ps3 games dunno

Im sure they will find a way. Even nintendo found a way. I put all my wii digital library into my wii u. Im sure their digital content will also be able to be transfered. Idk so much about b/c with ps3 discs.

I am a huge PS3 fan. You could even label me a PS3 fanboy if you like....that's been fair at times.

But if Sony cannot figure out how to make the stuff we bought out from their store work for the PS4, then I will never buy anything from their online store again.
I don't really care how they get it done....whether through GAIKAI, straight emulation....I've even heard rumors of some dongle'ish attachment thing, and that might be acceptable....maybe.

If Sony can't figure it out, then they've misappropriated consumer trust in their online shit, AGAIN.

And if that's the case, considering how important online has become, and is further becoming in the future, I might as well not even bother with a PS4, because it would be more of Sony Online Incompetence.

Sony better figure it out.....Move Heaven and Earth if need be.....they had better.

PS....A credit refund would also be acceptable.

Do you feel the same?  Explain.

Why? When you buy a PS4 your PS3 will break? Play the games on the PS3 and the brand new next gen games on the PS4. I have a Vita and still have a PSP, that is it.

I say: no backward compatibility and MORE POWER, MUCH MORE POWER.

But my xbox 360 failed, ps2 failed, and PS3 likely will. w/o backwards compatibilty I probably won't buy a PS4 (Sony is under no obligation to make it B/C, but I'm under no obligation to buy it).

All things man-made especially those that are mechanical or electrical in nature is prone to fail eventually, when you buy something like this, you should expect it to fail eventually.

If Sony and Microsoft can get backwards compatability working via a console addon or inclusion of the prior consoles processors or even in software, then great, I know allot of people who moved from a PS1 to a PS2 because it would  still run all their PS1 games, so it's obviously a feature many people wanted and helps lock in paying customers to a certain platform.

I agree, these consumer products do not suppose to last forever. And if you do not want to play the next gen games, don´t buy a PS4, keep your PS3.

If it breaks, well, welcome to adulthood, where things go wrong from time to time and you have to deal with them...

You know, these things, they die one day. If you don´t want to play games anymore, don´t play it, it is the fastest growing industry in the world, someone will play instead of you.

Well, no, you're not entitled to compensation, as no game you've bought on PSN has ever listed "PS4" as a platform it would work with. You're not going to get a refund. However, you're fully entitled to feel disappointment and anger, which is what I would probably feel, and to take your business elsewhere as a result.

Where have you heard it suggested that you won't be able to play PSN games on PS4, though?

I share the same concern about PS4 since they are dropping the CELL processor architecture in favor of something comparatively more off the shelf (AMD something) than an evolution of the CELL processor architecture.

That said, I see no reason why I wouldn't hold on to my very competant and relevant PS3 for another few years past the PS4 release. If they do manage to be fully BC with all PS3 content, then I would definitely replace PS3 hardware.

I love the PS3 and all the content I already have on it and its controllers and headsets... those PS3 headsets are the best in class.

This does raise a good question though.

I personally just expect my XBLA games to carry over to my Live account when I buy the next Xbox. If thats not the case, we got a problem. Hell ill settle for being able to re download them for free since I allready pruchased them on the 360.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.
