The PS2 is much stronger compared to the PS1, just like the Wii U is much stronger compared to the Wii.

But not the PS3/360.

I must have missed Nintendos games on PS360 then aka what does it matter how strong the other consoles are. If you are interested in nintendo games the Wii U IS a mayor step up from previous gen and since this forum already came to the agreement that the Wii U won't pull significant third party support I don't see the point comparing it to PS360. A wise man once said "It's not the same content, it's not the same games".

Lol, I wasn't.  You and others were comparing it to the PS4 and NeXbox, as well as equating them to the power/graphics level of consoles from last gen.  I just pointed out that the comparison was flawed.  No need to get so defensive.

You weren't what? And why wouldn't we compare those consoles? They will all be in the same generation. A more suitable comparison would be Wii-> Wii U, PS3 -> Orbis and 360 -> Durango I guess. But that's boring.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

Either it will be and Sony didn't learn from the ps3 and vita or it won't.

Surely they've learned from the ps3 and vita. They really can't afford to sell at a loss this gen. If they do who knows what could happen.

If true, the likely analogy would be: Orbis:Xbox, Durango:PS2, Wii U:Dreamcast

Orbis: Xbox, Durango: Gamecube, Wii U: PS2. There you go.

There is going to be a much bigger gap between the NeXbox and Wii U than there was between the Gamecube and PS2.  That's like saying the PS2 was only slighter better, in terms of graphics, when compared to the PS1 and N64.

@ OP

I believe the PS4 will have a slight edge over the NeXbox.  I would say similar to what the PS3 had over the 360 this gen

xbox has better ram and gpu than playstaion 3

Neil Thompson from Bioware shit all over this article earlier today. People need to stop taking every rumor and acting like it is true. BTW you can just tell a Sony fan boy wrote this when you are dropping things like Sony will be the console for gamers.

lol i only owned a 360 this gen, but if this is true, i'm going with the best hardware money can buy.

So a PC, then?

just no dude...really don't go off of one rumor and start threads like this. There are many rumors that say the opposite too.

imho I doubt either would be more powerful by a significant margin over the other anyway.

its looking like reality  though, eurogamer is not calling it a rumor by the way, they say they are pretty sure about there source.

nah man they are several conflicting rumors about this floating around. The BEST you can trust on is imho a guy with the tag mr accurate over at gaf. Nsanity posted his quote yesterday too. We are basically going to get two consoles similar in overall ppower but strengths in different areas :) I doubt either MS or Sony fans would be disappointed at the end of the day

Why do I smell a MS boy, here? According that to discuss about rumor is nearly useless, this last one, at least for the pS4, is the only one that makes sense. Sony had already stated that the will be a next console once there is enough technological gap to justify it. And Sony has never been cheap on innovation. Not like MS that came out with a diskless, DVD only console and sold it as if it was the State of the Art in Information Technology. Just make a simple consideration: this time around there isn't for Sony an optical format war to win. Sony can well invest in more power keeping the price lower. $600 at that time for a gaming system with a Blu Ray player was nothing.

Is that matter?
Since it won't end like what people's wish for

A lot of wishful thinking going on in this thread.

Even if true, is it really going to matter? Are there going to be games made on one system that simply can't be done on the other for reasons of hardware power? In fact are there many games types or genres that can't be fully realised with existing hardware? For $500-600 (Australian) I want more than just 1080p, a more destructible environment and prettier textures.

The differentiating factors are going to be exclusives (mostly first party), ease of development, price and ancillary features.

You're wrong. PS4 specs aren't that expensive at all. PS4 should be price equal to if not lower than the next Xbox. Remember that Microsoft is pushing Kinect 2 bundled with every system.
