Hmmm weird because the game is supposed to take place after they die.  This game is the story of how Kratos breaks his bonds of servitude with the gods.  His wife and daughter are already dead unless theres some wierd alternate timeline stuff goin on

In the video you posted kratos knocked a guy out of the way from a spear. Normal he would just let the guy get impaled and walk around his body (or use it to hold something in place and let it tear the victim apart) anyway, maybe its an invading army? Maybe he is protecting people now?

actually I saw a video of someone playing the SP demo at a demo station at some event. And the guy explaining actually said something like that so this very well could be the case :)
