I own a Vita since December and I really liked my PSP before. Square-Enix truly showed what handhelds can do with Birth by Sleep and Crisis Core (at the Cost of some PS3 Games, maybe?). I bought Katamari, AC3 Liberation and got Uncharted and some small games with PS+.

AC3 Liberation showed that you can bring console style games to a handheld... but there were some things with that game that were really awful and they made me think about what the Vita will become.

1) Touchscreen controls... What the **** where they thinking? I could open that damn letter for minutes because the back touchscreen simply didn't work. Why did they alter the pickpocketing. It was perfectly fine with holding the x button, now I have to use the back screen and it just doesn't work sometimes. And what is up with the camery minigame. The game didn't recognise the light source, but it worked when I turned off the light and the room was totally dark? This game really makes me think that motion controls for dedicated games are simply broken beyond repair and I fear that most big games will be hurt by tacked on motion controls that are simply not needed.

2) Online-Multiplayer-Trophies
What is the online-Mode in AC3 supposed to be? It is simply a tacked on waste of time if you want to get the platinum Trophy. There is absolutely no strategy involved...

I planned on buying Dynasty Warriors next, but again there is no way i will ever get the Platinum Trophy because I will never get 3 friends to buy a Vita and play with me Ad Hoc.? Why is there such a trophy? Ok, I will buy DS7 for the PS3 instead.

Michael Jackson... why is there a trophy for Ad hoc? I do not have a friend who has a VITA. Again a Platinum Trophy I will never get... not because I lack skill, but because there are limitations that I personally can't change.

Bis Sky Infinity... It has a trophy that nobody in the world has achieved. It seems that you have to play like 150 hours... and the game makes fun for 5 hours or so.

I have got so many games from the start, but simply everyone that I have played so far had a major flaw. Why can't I just turn of the touchscreen when I do not want to use them? Why are there so stupid trophies? Whats the sense in a trophy system when people are not able to get them adequately? Why bother?

I must say that I would hjave prefered a PSP 2 instead of the VITA. The VITA is a great piece of Hardware, but motion controls and mulitplayer trophies are some things that get me angry somehow. Ok, thats not Sonys fault. But after that dissappointments I started to be more cautious about what games I am buying.

I feel you on AC3 Liberation's touch controls. I'm going to plat it soon too. For me though, the letter opening worked perfectly. The most I've ever had to try is 3 times on one letter but I normally nail it first try. Just pinch the top from left to right...maybe its just me. The pickpocketing is pretty lame and that light through the back is completely broken. I find just shaking my vita is what works. That whole minigame is just implemented comletely wrong but done correctly wouldn't be a problem.

Touchscreen controls have better implementations and you will start to see developers use them better. LittleBigPlanet did it well and I can't wait for Tearaway.

Trophies are up to the devs. I have no idea what they are thinking sometimes. Mortal Kombat takes a minumum of 500+ hours to platinum because of one trophy.

Vita is PSP2. I have no idea why they chose to rename the system. Adding in motion, touch, and other things is a trend in mobile devices that would not be ignored.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

Are you playing games to collect trophies or for fun?

Speaking of which, DW Next doesn't have an "ad hoc" trophy, but Coalition trophy is much easier to obtain if you have freinds to play with.

Well' on your Motion Control comment, I would like to add that it does work perfect for dedicated gaming, for example:

Star Fox 64 3D (3rd person shooter with good story mode & multiplayer)

Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D (slingshot is must more better with Motion Controls, plus it's true Panarama View)

Resident Evil: Revelations (perfect, but might take a short while to get use to)

Mario Kart 7 (perfect but diffulcult, but it could easily be better in 3rd person view if it was an option for motion controls)

Paper Mario sticker Star (JRPG, uses it for the holographic stickers display on the bottom screen for more realism ironically)

Denpa Men (Dungeon Crawler RPG)

and there are plenty more examples.

But yeah, there are bad ones too:

Shinobi (by the time I figured out how to use the motion controls without losing the 3D, I had already beaten that part of the game, LOL)

Super Mario 3D Land (sometimes it wasn't good enough, but might have been fixed by now with the firmware updates since then)

And then there are times when it is perfect but is made for us dedicated gamers:

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater (MGS 2 & 3)

So its a mix bag, but don't give up on it because of 1 or so bad motion control games.

I just wish I could use Motion in Kid Icarus: Uprising instead of my right thumb and/or stylus on the Touch Screen (depending on how I feel to play at the time, but it's much easier to use your thumb in my experience, but either method works best for a fps game surprisingly).

@ Chark
Good Luck with the Platinum. I got it yesterday. "tree Ninja" and "what is she doing" where also hard to get because the kills were not always counting. The last Trophy I needed was climbing the 8848m... I got around 5000 during my playthrough so I had to grind the last ones. Two rubberbands did the job within an hour. Such trophies should be more balanced so that you can get it during a normal playthrough. So, good luck for you Platinum.

@ Kaizar
I have yet to play a game where the motion controls offer a benefit over the normal controller. Ok, I did not play every game out there, but the only games I have played so far that were really suited for the motion controls were Professor Layton, Phoenix Wright, Sports Champion, Deadstorm Pirates and similar Railshooter. motion controls work with some Minigames, too. Super Mario Galaxy was ok, but I would have prefered a traditional controller for Jump'n'Runs.

Epic Mickey and Silent Hill Shattered Memories were a nightmare since you got control problems you just wouldn't have had with the controller. Why can't I turn off the motion controls? They should be optional because they simply ruined the games for me. That is a big deal for me on the Vita... Every game I buy could be potentially broken because of badly implemented motion controls. Its the same problem with the WII or the WII U. Since the Motion Controls are there on the main controller, they could be implemented in every game. The PS3 has the Move as an optional controller. So unless I see a big MOVE Sign on the cover I can be sure that I can play the game without Motion Controls.

It should be simple as that. If you can't integrate motion controls properly... make it either optional or just don't use them. Ok, touch screens are there in Smartphones and Tablet PCs... but I simpy doubt that users of these devices will buy a VITA or a WII U too. They already have a device for playing these types of games. I thinkt that most user buy their Vita because they simply want to play more complex games. And the sales figures of the Vita and the WII U are not really on fire despite having touchscreen controls.

@ Tom3k

What would you think if you play a game, for example New Super Mario Bros. Wii. And there is a feature included that you can collect 3 Special Coins in every World. What would you say if there were 1 Coin that you just couldn't get because the developers screwed up. Ok, you could play through the game and you wouldn't miss anything important. But if you choose to collect all coins you would be pissed.

Thats how I feel about trophies. They are part of the game and I try to beat my games. The developers have to implement them, ok. But if they are implementing them, they should do it properly, so that every player with decent skill could get the platinum. What would you say if you buy a book and there is a bonus appendix there... but written in a foreign language so that you could not read it. Ok, you could say that it is just a bonus and it doesn't matter much... But I suppose you would feel irritated if such things happen.

Take Mortal Kombat for the Vita. I would have never bought this game because I simply do not like it. But I got it for free due to PS+. As I researched a bit if I might like the game I saw the Trophy list and saw this trophy mentioned by Chark with the 500h+. And I wondered what the developers were thinking when they choosed the trophies. Am I supposed to play no other game than Mortal Kombat for months? Do they think that only the most hardcore players or the Elite deserve the Platinum? I deleted the game without even trying it out. I would never have bought the game anyway since I never was a fan of MK but if it had a simple Platinum I might have given it a try. But with this Trophy list I felt that I am not really the taret group of the game and I doubted even more that I may like the game.

Again. If you want to implement a feature, then do it properly and take your customers serious.
