I haven't read so much rubbish on here for a very long time , if you followed some of this logic it seems that Sony is simply compounding the mistake it made by entering the portable market with the psp in the first place . and that's a product that gained 30 % market share showing there was room for both parties in the portable space and both could grow , this from a machine that had a lot of the same criticism leveled at it that the Vita gets now , ironically a fair percentage of Vita doom is from people who don't own or really want one and from that stand point echo those who feel that way about the Wii U, still in the end time will decide where the Vita sits and as to profitability all we can go on is Kaz at the beginning forecasting 3 years to full profitability , that time period seemed to me to imply that the brand would have paid for itself by then rather than just each unit making money , although I also feel that time period might have lengthened if they where using their early sales estimates , then again who knows maybe they are on track simply because they haven't dropped the price and the memory card margins are high and not coming down , things have changed since the Vita was first envisioned but the Vita will ride it out changes will be made and even if it doesn't sell quite as much hardware as the psp it could possibly do better software wise especially on the digital side.

Handheld gaming is dead, get over it.

No adult outside a vocal niche group of people on the internet would be caught dead carrying around a 3DS or Vita in public. It's the smartphone-age and you're living in it.

Nintendo gets by on their core IP and the fact that they own the kids market, which still gravitates to handhelds. And in Japan where people use their handheld as their main gaming device.

But thats about it.

Stop worrying about Vita. It never had a chance to begin with anyway.

If you are one of the very few people that have one, enjoy it for what it is.

Oh my god, someone saw me in public playing a gaming handheld! I hope they don't think I'm not a whore of the smartphone loving media, because I totally am!

Yeah, I know what you mean.

I guess I'm past the age where I care what other people think in regards to something like that. In fact, I've actually had people express interest in what kind of system or game I was playing while using my 3DS in public - from kids to older adults... even a couple of attractive women.

I believe what your saying and truth i cant wait for to get a Vita its just too damn expensive for me atm.

Also like i said im not really sure what games are on the Vita, just most of the big ones i have seen people talk about seem to be console like games but im sure the is many other types of games too, i really need to look into it more and see what JRPG's the handheld has now as that will be a big selling point for me and one game that has me looking and wishing for is that Ni Ki komi (Spelling lulz?), With a price cut id buy the Vita for that 1 game alone

Did you ever have a PSP? If not, then you will be in JRPG heaven as a large chunk of the PSP catalogue is available to purchase on Vita and that had some fantastic JRPGs. Actually for Vita itself there's not too many JRPGs now, just Ragnarok Oddyssey and Persona 4: The Golden though the latter must have done something right as it's meta put it as the highest rated game of 2012.

I hear you on the price. If Sony really are making profit on each unit as someone suggested earlier in this thread, they need a 3 figure price drop IMO to really get things shifting. Most people I know think the Vita looks like a great piece of kit, but when they've already got a tablet and a smart phone, they just can't find the MSRP in the system. Especially with the games being pretty much home console prices too. That said. I paid £229.00 for mine last March (got Uncharted included for free :D) which actually works out at about $365 lol and I don't regret it at all.

No No Kuni looks epic. I've got the Wizards Edition pre ordered. The twilight years of this generation are for me shaping up to be by far the best :D I also found Catherine for £15 new yesterday in town so decided I was going to have some of that too! haha. I miss the days when gaming was Japan. I'm getting old!

Yep i own a PSP since its launch and a large chunk of JRPG's for it too, it was the mean selling point for the PSP for me cos it got so many good jrpg's and i hope the vita can do the same.

And you hit the nail on the head cos if i didnt already have an iphone 4 and a 3DS id of picked up the Vita a long time ago without even worrying about the price.

But for now it needs a price cut before id buy one. Even if they Cut the price by €50 and included an 8gb memory card once No no Kuni launchs over here id pick one up in a heart beat along with Uncharted and Persona 4 (I already own Person 4 on PS2 but i wouldnt mind owning it again on Vita ).

And i own Catherine too but still never got a chance to play it yet (I hate my backlog of games cos i have too many too play lulz xD) .

I also feel you dude, i used to love when some of the best gaming came from japan, most of the japan studios now are trying to be too western imo .

You act like Ni No Kuni is coming to the Vita. It's for PS3.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

Without owning a vita people can't speak, I'm yet to meet someone who owns one and doesn't like it and people that try to say they have one and don't like it are just trolls.

So, basically, if you don't care for it, you can just shut the **** up? Have I got that about right?

(I have one and it's a pale shadow, game-wise, to the 3DS, nor am I remotely alone in this assessment, but it's good to know that our opinions don't count because we are not unequivocal in our praise!)

I wish I could find all this awesome 3DS software. For me Vita software library is now far better than the 3DS's

Meta ratings would also suggest that general consensus is that Vita had a better 2012 with 19 titles averaging over 7/10 vs 13 on the 3DS.

But i thought it was on the Vita?? O_O .

Are you telling me that my whole reason for wanting a Vita is now no longer a valid reason O_O .

Well damn. On the Plus side i will now have this game without needing a new console to play it xD

But damn Sony better get me some JRPG's on the Vita :-/

I know right? It's a shame it isn't on Vita but again it is great to see an JRPG like this on home consoles. It has not been a good generation.

You can blame the slow trickle of JRPGs on the Japanese publishers sticking with PSP too long. These games take a while to make and they are trying to make more money due to the world economy. Some publishers are releasing Vita versions of PSP games, but the bulk of titles are probably in the works and I'm not sure how many will hit this year.

Persona 4 Golden is worth getting the Vita though. Enjoy Ni No Kuni for now, but hopefully you get a Vita eventually. Handhelds have been a bastian for the JRPG and I'm sure the Vita will be the same in time, not to mention the other great titles it will get. (Like Tearaway)

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

I think it could do wonders if they stopped branding it as a portable PS3 and give it more exclusive games, or at least market the exclusive games they do have.

threads like this makes me ashamed to be a gamer at times. What utter bs. Are you a shareholder of sony? if so you think vita is harming their profits? If the answer is no sales should mean no more than just a discussion topic which should NOT impact the enjoyment you get out of a system

I am and the answer that that is no.
