Wut?
What a lame thread, culminating every misconception and console war sentiment on this site.
Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

With hardware sales of 3.5 Million, and software sales of 9.7 Million (a large portion of which are bundled), I'm positive that Sony is not turning a profit off of the PS-Vita when you account for marketing costs. Back when the PS2, XBox and Gamecube launched Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo all bragged that their marketing budgets for these platforms was going to be over $500,000,000 worldwide over their first year; and marketing costs have gone up dramatically over the past decade. Even if Sony was only spending that much on the PS-Vita it works out to being $142 for every system sold.
The videogame industry is a business where you cover the high costs through massive volume over a long period of time. When you sell 100 Million systems and 1 billion units of software the R&D and marketing costs of producing a new system seem relatively small, but when you are crawling along like the PS-Vita even profits turned on selling the hardware do not balance out the massive business costs associated with the platform.
Consider that Sony went from a full year profit of $434 Million from their gaming division in 2011 to having lost $45 Million by the end of Q2 2012; and over this period the PS3 and PSP should have continued to be turning a very solid profit, so it likely that the PS-Vita launch cost Sony $250 Million. While we won't know for months, it is plausable that Sony will see similar losses throughout the year and will (likely) have a small loss on their fiscal year.

But anyway im not a person thats looking for a console experence on the go but i will still by a PSVita once it gets a €100 price cut but till then i have no need for the handheld as any game thats on it that i want to play i can pretty much get on my PS3 and i think thats the problem many other people are having with the handheld too. You put that as plus points but for me personaly and im sure its the same for others is why its not selling so good as we dont want a console in our pockets. |
There's plenty of stuff on Vita that is more tailored to handheld gaming :)
By console experience. I don't actually mean 10-20 hour campaigns. I mean Vita is the first handheld where it's not felt like everything has been compromised because it's a hand held system. The visuals might get toned down, but the likes of Need for Speed are everything you have in the home version.
Btw, when you get a Vita, you'l soon see that most games look better on Vita than RE Revelations ;) videos of handheld games on a PC or whatever just do them no justice at all. Same applies to 3DS titles. Riles me up something chronic all these "blah blah handheld games suck crappy graphics look at this ridiculously zoomed high res screen shot as my proof!"
I actually think Need for Speed: Most Wanted on Vita was last years greatest gaming technical achievement.
Vita is a handheld PS3-Cellphone hybrid. They should have done something unique like DS.
Some good has come of this thread. I was looking for a new Vita game to want. Looks like NFS:MW will be that title. Thanks, Mike Rox! Every console library needs a great racer!
Vita has a pretty good racing catalogue for not even 12 months on the market. Sonic and Allstars Racing: Transformed is very good too. Then of course WipeOut! The Milestone racers are decent for enthusiasts too (WRC 3 and MUD).

No the PS3 was always going to get the needed 3rd party support.
But the PS Vita is only selling up to 10,000 a week in America & others regions.
Sony has paid FutureLab to make a bunch of New Franchise IP AAA titles that they get to keep, but the first of each Franchise has to be a PS Vita exclusive according to the contract.
Sony already used their relationship & money & influence to get such games as Ninga Gaiden Sigma Plus & Call of Duty Black Ops Declassified & Assassin's Creed 3 Libreation (AC3 L is the only good one out of these).
Sony has recently done 1 last ditch move with FuturLab that will take 1 to 3 years to get some supposedly AAA titles on it.
So at least Sony is now leaving it up to FuturLab (or whatever that 3rd Party is called) to do anything else to help the PS Vita.
So Sony has already moved on to 100% focussing on the upcoming PS4 (which will have a 3 GB to 8 GB RAM depending on release date).
The 720 will only have a 3 GB RAM vs. the Wii U 2 GB RAM.
The PS Vita is officially on its last legs.
Well at least 97% of Virtual Boy owners loved the Virtual Boy, but only the minority % of PS Vita owners like the PS Vita.
And a lot of Vita's have already been sold back & traded at places like GameStop.
Virtual Boy (Wire Frame Graphics) & Sega Saturn & PS Vita & Xbox (1st Generation Xbox), all officially seem to have the worst support in the history of Video games, but at least the Xbox was made by Microsoft with their company as a whole, doing good.
And now the 360 leeches off the PS3. But I hope the 720 doesn't leech off the PS4 and just gets its own games instead.
About 3D in the Nintendo 3DS:
http://www.aoa.org/x17309.xml
So 3D is LITERALLY good for everyone ages 1 day old & up.
And I can tell you from my own personal experience that I have recently had a checkup with my optometrist and I can now read the smallest letters.........which is something I haven't been able to do since Elementry School.
I have personally never had any problems with the 3D in anything like PS3 & 3DS & Movie Theaters.
I don't know why come so many Whites & Asians have problems with 3D, but I think it literally has to do with all the "inbreeding" Whites & Asians use to do all the time when it comes to their ancestry.
