The lack of software numbers has always bugged me. Has there ever been a reason from them?

Lack luster quarter for Microsoft and no growth in the key areas that it needs to have it in.
No surface numbers (which is one of those important growth areas as PC sales continue to slow) only means that the sales are not that well, given Apple shipped some 22+ million ipads. Only going to get worse with the surface pro. That 8 billion dollar payout for Skype is looking like it was not worth it, I'm sure with that kind of money, they could have created something in house. Its investment in Nook turned out to be disaster.

I think the purchase of Skype was more to kill the competition because Microsoft already have something similar inhouse.

Anyhow... they dont and thats that. Its a tiny part of what they are I guess. Tiny. Maybe MS are more concentrated on the top/bottom line than how many units a discounted game sold in a bargain bin somewhere. I agree it would be helpful but its not that big a deal really.. |
Both?
Im not talking about specific games. Im talking about total shipments. Yearly shipments. Not Halo 4 shipments. Would just be nice to know I guess.

Software shipments are getting to complicated I guess with all those digital sales... especially all those small things like new weapons/clothes dlc etc..

They had the PS3 at 77m at the end of december, although that number was rounded up, just like microsofts numbers So anywhere between 76.8m-77m should be about it :) |
If we use kow's thread For figures
http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=129135
The last shipment gap was 2 million (70m vs 68m) so to purely out ship the 360 they had to ship 5.9 + 2 = 7.9 million
I don't believe they've out shipped the 360 so I'll not hold you to Sony shipping 77 million ltd, just that they've shipped more PS3's than 360's.
In summary:
I bet Sony will ship less than 7.9 million in their financials

No, actually the PS3 has shipped 70m as off november
70.2m as off september if you count the PS2
Anyways, sony had to ship atleast 6 and a half million consoles after that date, which is possible.
Sony obviously stuffed the channels though.
