Another year over and a fresh one has begun. With Sony and Microsoft fretting to join Nintendo in the next gen and potentially could be an awesome year for gamers, we take a look back to 2012 and pick our top 10 games for the year. Our list contains a few sleeper hits, original IP’s and sequels that live up to the hype. Let’s kick off with our number 10;
10 | Persona 4 Golden
Persona 4 Golden is a HD remake of the PS2 role playing game. The game follows the nameless main character as he moves to a new town to begin a new life, he meets new friends and has an easy going life. Not everything is as it seems, soon a strange TV channel known as ‘the midnight channel’ plays videos of missing people only for them to appear as murder victims hanging from TV antennas days later. When the main character friends are taken, it comes down to him to unlock his persona and save the town. The gameplay is mix of a dungeon crawling RPG and a life simulator, during the day the player attends school, talk to friends and can shop for items. In the afternoon they can venture inside a TV to fight monsters and save those who are lost. The game is not for the casual RPG player, as death is a serious penalty. Overcoming this steep learning curve reveals a highly addictive game with a lot of replay value. The game is a fantastic experience and is a must own to any RPG fan who owns a PS VITA.

9 | New Super Mario Bros U
NSMB U was meant to be the flagship title of Nintendo’s new Wii U console. Years have passed since Mario has been a launch game for a Nintendo console. Finally Nintendo fans would be able to feel what it was like to have Mario at launch. With a whole slew of new suits, overworld and online capabilities the new Mario game for the Wii U has a little something for new and old school gamers. It has garnered both critic and gamer praise since it was launched with the Wii U in November. Mario has done it again!

8 | Hitman: Absolution
Agent 47 is back at it again. After a short eternity waiting for two mediocre Kane & Lynch’s to come and go, the baldy-badass just can’t help himself to having another hit of cold-hearted murdering. It’s just nice to see that IO Interactive have finally gone back to what they do best, making Hitman games and their latest offering doesn’t disappoint.
The game kind of sticks to its traditional roots but now is a lot less fiddly to control and opens it up to the more casual player but still as a hardcore element running through its backbone, this makes Hitman: Absolution less frustrating than its predecessors. Like other Hitman games, missions can be tackled in a variety of ways so if you want to play through the game again, you can complete it a different way. This gives the game good replay value. Now hasn’t been a better time to get into the Hitman series and you might even find yourself going through the Hitman back-catalogue to get some more Hitman action.
