Well, Star wars, Die hard, Indiana Jones and Terminator all aren't trilogies anymore, so Back to the future?

My #19 is Singin' in the Rain, the best movie musical ever made. Singin' in the Rain is a bright, hilarious, and joyous affair with jaw-dropping choreography and some of the best music and lyrics ever to come out of Hollywood.

Shame on me, I have had the dvd for many years and it's still in its plastic wrapper. Should really get around to watching it some time.

19. Tideland, 2005, Terry Gilliam


The third Terry Gilliam movie on my list. A pretty horrible story looked at on the surface. The movie starts with Jeliza-Rose preparing heroin and giving it to her father for daddy's little vacation. Soon after the mother dies, dad panics and takes her to her deceased grandmother's abandoned home, where soon after daddy's little vaction turns into a very long one. That's only the beginning of the movie.
A great story about no matter how tragic, life finds a way to deal with it. In this case through fantasy and acting out with multiple personalities by talking through doll heads. Dickens and Jeliza-Rose both give great performances, besides the bizarre situation it somehow all feels very natural. At the ending Terry Gilliam pulls off a difficult feat, finding comedy in a tragic scene.

Posted my 19th pick Back to the Future my next movie includes a climatic scene on top of Mount Rushmore.

It's definitely not National Treasure 2 never saw it or the first one.
