Forums - Gaming - Should Sega Kickstarter Shenmue 3?

It's a sequel gamers have cried themselves to sleep wishing for, but for one reason or another hasn't materialised yet. Probably because the first two games in the series ate up enough money to fill Scrooge McDuck's vault-o-cash a few times over and didn't recoup anything close to that.

However, by crowd sourcing funds it could eliminate the risk. Sure it would cost a incredible amount of money to make properly but i'm betting there are enough fans worldwide to get the ball of money rolling.

Shenmue 3 for WiiU

Shenmue is... unique. I really want to see Shenmue 3. In next generation, maybe? Im sure that they will release Shenmue 3 after releasing Shenmue 1 and 2 in HD, i just dont expect it to be soon.

If sega has to ask the fans for money to fund their games then thats sad.

Sure, guys could you give us $70 million?
we have 3 months

Even though gamers shouldn't have to support the development it would be nice to see shenmue fans finally getting an ending.

Highly doubt a Kickstarter will help founding a AAA game, considering those usually cost like 30m+ dollars (and that's kinda cheap actually) and the highest amount of money raised in terms of video games was the Ouya with 8.5m

It could help in terms of knowing if there's enough fanbase for the game, but there're ways to do that without Kickstarter.

Fuck that shit. Ps3 exclusive baby.

Way too much money for that kind of thing. Best bet would be if Nintendo pulled a Bayonetta, but even that's unlikely with the amount of money involved.

It's way too expensive to Kickstarter.
