I love both series but fallout is better to me, better story, characters, weapons, and plus the bloody mess perk! Yeah fallout all the way.

I've always preferred the medieval fantasy settings so my favorite between the two is the Elder Scrolls series.

I know what you mean (though I find Fallout 1/2 better by a country mile than both ES and Fallout 3/NV) - I have a very good friend who lives and breaths RPGs, but he can't play anything that's not some sort of sword&sorcery setting, no matter how much time I tried to persuade him to give other settings a shot.

I prefer Fallout myself. I was never the hugest fan of elder scrolls, though i do play and enjoy the games. The story/atmosphere/setting of Fallout make it a wonder to explore for me.
