Forums - Sales - Future of gaming?

Alright guys, lets not talk about how many units each company is going to ship by 2011. Lets talk about what the next big thing will be. Where do you see each company going? Just don't even mention sales numbers, just assume Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo are all gonna make another home console. What do you think they will be like? Here's my guess:
Microsoft November 2011: Xbox3. Pretty powerful, 1080p output, etc. They come up with a new type of controller, which makes FPSs easier to play, but you still get the ease of typing that comes with a computer. (i dunno, keyboard type controller?) I think Microsoft will realize people are tired of upgrading their PC, so they will try to get all the PC developers to focus on the Xbox3 so they don't have to worry about Windows Vista/Mac/Linux compatabilities... Maybe they're doing that right now, who knows. But I think Microsoft will try to make it more like a PC.
Sony November 2011: Their Media will be Blu-ray whether Blu-ray is successful or not, but it might be able to read HD-DVDs also, if that is successful. I don't think they will try to make their console too much more powerful, but I think they are going to try to re-define gaming in a very innovative way (maybe yoink all of the Wii's ideas, lol). They are investing alot of money right now in figuring out how to one-up Nintendo. They know they need to broaden the market for their consoles (like Nintendo has) so they will try to come up with something VERY awesome (virtual reality type stuff??) Nintendo November 2010: Nintendo will release the Wii 2, or whatever its called. This is basically a super-charged version of the Wii. It has PS3 quality graphics for $250 (4 years after the PS3 launched). It has improved internet capabilities and everything is backwards compatible still (and Wii games can be up-converted to a higher resolution, possibly). Nintendo releases some sort of really innovative thing, and Microsoft and Sony scramble to copy it for their own consoles, which launch with a higher price.
Other points of discussion: Where do you think the handheld market is going? PSP2? DS2?

Around the Network

If the Wii is highly successful I don't see Nintendo releasing a new system until 2011; if the Wii is unsuccessful enough that Nintendo releases a system in 2009 or 2010 I don't see Sony or Microsoft copying the Wiimote.

On top of that I suspect that (although Nintendo will probably not be pushing the technological limits) the Wii's successor will be far more inline in processing power with its competition than the Wii was; for $200 to $300 in 2011 you will (easily) be able to design and manufacture a system which is 4 to 8 times as powerful as the PS3.
