3DS will most likely dominate everything. Vita is kind of independent of that. If Vita gets a price cut and some interesting games it could become respectible. With MH4 launching on 3DS, Vita could also become completely insignificant and fade away. I'm not sure which will happen yet, but either way wouldn't surprise me.

Why is everybody so caught up that Monster Hunter is the ultimate system seller? Don't get me wrong, it will sell millions in Japan, but in the rest of the world? Honestly I'll be surprised if it breaches million in US and EU combined.

Anyway I selected "3DS will Dominate it this Year". It's a matter of price and "brand recognition".  It's a cheaper console and for a parent that is buying something for his kid, he would probably go with something that has Mario on it.

I don't own 3DS, and with current big titles that are out or in works, i don't feel compelled in owning one.  But I do own Vita, and love both the hardware and software available on it. It's a matter of taste I guess. I did grew up on Mario, Zelda, Wario, Kirby... but at same time I did grew out of them too.

3DS is set to rape and pillage everything else this year!! For the whole year...

Im gonna have to call the police on Nintendo for raping the competition.

That should help the Ps vita.

You do that: Vita needs all the help it can get!!

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

I would love for the Vita to have some life in it. Its a cool device, but lets be honest... between Sony´s inability to slash the price and the 3DS megatons, its not even pretty to watch.
I think the Vita might´ve been murdered with the Pokemon announcement today. Its like you can hear the announcer say: Game, set and match... 3DS!

Why would it be? Nintendo are releasing a pokemon game on a handheld this is shokcing news to everyone, pretty sure Sony were counting on Nintendo to discontinue the series. This will mean and do nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Expect the gap to close a little, but 3DS will still come out on top.

Monster Hunter 4 on 3DS is significant because it was a major reason for people to buy PSP, especially in Japan.  It's the number 2 and 3 game in lifetime sales on PSP. It's the Japanese equivalent to Call of Duty announcing it's going exclusive on WiiU for next gen.  People buy Nintendo systems for the 1st party games, but Sony and MS systems are generally pushed by 3rd party games. If the 3rd party games were to switch to Nintendo exclusively, there would be little movivation for most people to buy Sony or MS systems.

MH games are the only 4 games to be million sellers on PSP in Japan.  There is nothing else.  The PSV is effectively dead in Japan without a miracle.  In the west it gets 3rd party support like AC and CoD which have bouyed it a little, but MH is an absolutely catastrophic loss in Japan. That's why people talk about it.

for sure, but i hope it does better, and can't wait for the new pokemon :) by the way who wants to fight online pokemon black? suddenly i feel like playing pokemon again

Monster Hunter is the game that saved PSP that's why, it doesn't sell as much in the west or on home consoles but MH was a turning point for PSP as it gave new life to PSP in Japan which in turn convinced eastern developers to look at the platform with more confidence when you consider that the handheld market is very heavily driven by eastern developers performance in Japan is critical. MH is the only title that outside of Nintendo's first party can stand toe to toe with Dragon Quest in sales.

Just so you know MH Tri on the Wii broke the million barrier outside of Japan.

Its combined effect of Dragon quest, monster hunter and Pokemon. I'm pretty sure Sony was not expecting all of those to hit them head on in 2013. They have no chance in the Japanese market.

I'm sure you knew the answer before making this thread :p
