I have'nt played a pokémon game since shaphire/ruby but I WILL preorder this game for sure.

Starters look lame tho (in the exception of finnekin). I ALWAYS picked the water starter and let my lil bro pick the fire starter. As usual I will let him pick the fire starter and it would be lame if we both picked finnekin, so I guess I'll keep picking the water starter since the grass one is as lame imo. Hope their 3rd evolutions are better, if so, all will be fogiven. :P

Those 2 legendary look awsome. I actualy wished they showed us the boxart to have a better idea on wich game me and my bro should choose between XandY.

Rly like the artstyle. Close to the cartoon, was'nt what I was expecting but I dig it.

Noticed that all Pokémon we saw in this trailer other than the 3starters and the 2legendaries and from past gens. Can't wait to hear more about wich pokémon makes a comeback and what is the new vs old pokémon ratio.

By any chance can anyone tell me if anything else was announced at all at the Pokemon Direct?

Nothing unrelated to Pokémon X & Y was announced. It was all about those two games. Actually, the first 60% of the video was Iwata giving a history lesson about the series. "Then, in 2002, Ruby and Sapphire were released for GameBoy Advance...."

That short video/trailer was the whole Nintendo Direct for Pokemon? Wow.

Pretty much. Iwata gave tidbits of information before and after it, but most of the information is in the video iself. Iwata focused on the fact that it will have a simultaneous global release.

can somebody show me battles? Imagine this bundled with 3DS in the future.

This actually feels a little underwhelming, but I'll still probably buy them, as this is technically now Gen 6 we're entering. I really would have liked being able to get Hoenn pokemon without having to fiddle around with my DS Lite and my GameBoy cartridges. Ah well.

Battle graphics look amazing, a bit meh on the overworld because I wonder if given the time frame they will be able to maintain it without slow down or glitches, especially since in the video the player character at one point looked like they were gliding instead of running.

Still, hopefully my worries are in vain and this turns out to be as good as the previous generation of games. Came back to the series with Black/White and I really enjoyed it. With this level of upgrade, I'd have to come back for X or Y.

Structurally they appear the same, but more cinematic.

One notable change is that it appears physical attacks will actually be displayed. As in... well, see for yourself:
