Forums - Nintendo - 'Crysis 3' not coming to Wii U due to lack of "business drive"

Over a hundred posts and still not a single "unprecedented support" crack?

I swear we discussed it at some point. That we only have the rumor of EA's laughable "Origin for your entire online platform or i'll pack up my marbles and go home" deal, but it is obvious that something happened very much like that. When "unprecedented support" drops to "feature-gimped Madden and FIFA, with a deliberately sabotaged version of Mass Effect 3," well, there you go.

EA should just dry up. they make the same game ever year just with a new coat of paint and call it new

VITA 32 GIG CARD.250 GIG SLIM & 160 GIG PHAT PS3

Eh, it is EA, they really shouldn't be that surprised that Nintendo didn't want to saddle their online network as being something exclusive to EA's Origin but I get that they probably don't really want to spend any extra making sure the games run efficient on the Wii U.

Nintendo wasn't willing to give them any money /licensing breaks/free advertising.

EA could spend the money porting, or they could use it towards making another game they hope to be a big hit.   It's not like Crysis is a top tier franchise.

I think Crysis 2 cracked maybe a million on each HD Console?

Crysis is really just a franchise for PC graphic elitists.  Interest in it's inclusion or exclusion from the Wii U is likely just due to that graphical reputation and the chance it wasn't on the Wii U due to the "weak graphics" false narrative of the Wii U.

Exactly.. totally agree Crysis is mainly used as a tech demo!.. nothing more.. no one ever says.. oh Crysis is soo much fun!.. all they talk about is how awesome the graphics is.. and thats pretty much it.. and since Crysis 2 crytek decided to go where the money is and develop it for the ageing HDtwins.. it has gone down hill and no longer the bench marking graphics game it should have been if they made it purely PC first.. err!.. still boring ass game either way.

I know people who think it's a lot of fun, I mean like our good old mod Trash, he just finds it fun from a graphical/processing perspective on what you can do with it.

In general I think Crysis not being on Wii U has gotten more attention then when crysis was first announced for consoles though.  Crysis on consoles really isn't any different then say... Bulletstorm or Homefront.

Black Ops II on WiiU has only managed 160k, Crysis isn't anywhere near as popular.

There is no money to be made from it. Pretty simple.

Now I wonder why this post was ignored?

This is the truth people. Porting it to WiiU in 2013 makes no business sense. Plain and simple.

Those resources are better placed elsewhere.

Because the people who are quoting straight sales numbers are cherry-picking their logic.

Then prove him wrong and show why it is a worthwhile investment.

I don't buy this whole "They are being meanies because of Origin".

The game is releasing in 2 1-1/2 months and the game barely even sold over 1M on each PS3 and 360. By the time the game would release the WiiU would maybe have a 3-3.5M userbase. What kind of numbers would they have sold if it came out on WiiU? Even if they begin porting it now, what kind of sales would that investment bring with a possible 1+ year late port?

Plain and simple, it makes no sense. That's all there is.

EA's money is better spend on other projects.

It's a worthwhile investment because, like any group of people, you have to get 'em while they're young. If EA wants people buying core EA games on Wii U, they'll get them out here now, close to launch date and with all features (none of this no DLC crap like with Mass Effect 3), to show the audience they're being serious. Ports don't cost much, so while early investments are unlikely to make them much money, they're unlikely to lose much if any money in the short term, and have an audience in the long term. Otherwise they'll have to work with only two platforms, and their inconsistent financials from this generation should tell them that the successors of PS360 won't be enough to get them consistently good results

Secondly Kyliedog's being very disingenuous by citing Blops numbers as a snapshot. Legs have given every Wii CoD respectable numbers in the long run, and so is it likely to be with Blops II. Hence, logical cherry-picking.

Meanwhile, KungKras has cited two major incidents of EA being immature babies in the past (Trip Hawkins throwing a literal hissy fit over having to support the NES and EA's "total sports exclusivity or fuck you" ultimatum to Sega for Dreamcast). Granted, that is the past, and corporate structure might change in time, but precedent is in favor of EA just being a bunch of babies over this, and using logical cherry-picking of their own to justify their own immaturity.

Could anybody translate "lack of business drive" from business English to regular English?

EA's still sad and butthurt that Nintendo didn't pay them to use Origin as the basis for Wii U's online.

or they dont think they will make money on doing a port of Crysis to WiiU, and Nintendo didnt give them any financial incentive to port it.

nintendo fans can be a strange group, they think game companies have it in for nintendo. no they simply dont think they will make money with them.

its like every time, a company comes around and says we wont be making our game for nintendo, you guys say "good, i wouldnt buy your games anyway, i hate your company". thats exactly it, you guys a the nintendo fanbase/userbase, and are admitting you dont buy those types of games, they dont interest you.

the market just isnt there.

Companies don't get "butthurt". It's not as if this is the only multiplatform not to be coming to the Wii U.

Read some of KungKras' posts. EA has a history of bullying and generally being a bunch of brats.

Is this the only multiplatform not to be ported to the Wii U? No, therefore why are people trying to dismiss this as EA having an attitude problem which is rediculous for a company of such a size which has stockholders.
Companies may try to influence other companies decisions, but companies are not a bunch of schoolyard bullies looking to ruin another persons day for the hell of it.

Because a lot of Western third parties are as short-sighted as infants, as proven by their delightful financial track records. Companies like Take Two and EA are either malicious, incompetent, or a healthy mixture of both. Certainly not smart or successful businesses.

yeah because you would run a business so much better. you have such finicial insight, and foresight. you have clearly demonstrated you know how markets work int the real world. right?

didnt you work for a political campaign that lost?
