Doesn't really mean anything. What is Trine 2 anyway? Some kind of PSN/Eshop game?
Porting something like that over probably isn't that that hard since these types of games aren't pushing consoles to their limits.

I doubt Trine 2 was a CPU intensive game hence the Wii U port was very well handled.

Obviously it did push PS3/Xbox360 to their limits, else the WiiU version wouldn't look better (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-trine-2-face-off)
EDIT: Seems like eurogamer won't allow linking to their articles, so you'll reach it from here: https://www.google.de/search?q=trine+2+wiiu+ps3+differences&oq=trine+2+wiiu+ps3+differences&aqs=chrome.0.57j62l3.9330&sugexp=chrome,mod=12&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

you just put the link between brackets () and the one at the end got put with the link, so just delete the bracket and it works

All I can say is that Trine 2 is one of the most beautiful 2D games I ever played. Great developer. I also think it's a surprise hit on Wii U (I hope Frozenbyte reveal the sales figures one day).

I will only be convinced about WiiU when I see a game like Watch dogs running on it with almost the same graphics seen in that gameplay. Trine 2 is far from being a very demanding game.

Or because they only needed to port it and therefore had all the time needed to improve the graphics?? I think they just didn't put in enough effort on the PS3/XBOX360 version!!! (eventhough I think the graphics on PS3/XBOX360 was good enough for this type of game)
Trine2 is one of the most graphically demanding console games available. Frozenbyte said the graphical upgrades they added to WiiU couldn't be done on PS360. I don't know if that's true or not, but it's certainly beautiful. I also find it quite fun and unique as far as gameplay goes. I'd recommend it whatever system you're playing on, as long as you like slow-paced puzzlers.

It is a demanding game. There's a good breakdown of the limits of what can be shown on a PC, and what the home consoles can reproduce. They can't do what the PC can do because the game goes beyond their limits. Side-scroller means nothing other than the perspective from which the game world is shown. It's in full 3D. When you move around, background opjects completely change...it's not background layers. At least not entirely. Water and other effects are outstanding.
