Forums - Sales - Nintendo buys Monolith soft from Bandai-Scamo

I have both Baten Kaitos and Baten Kaitos Origins. Monolithsoft and Tri-Crescendo are both listed in the opening credits of each game. Nintendo hasn't made such a move since they bought Retro in 2001. So they must be very impressed with the work Monolith Software has done on D: DoC to buy them from Namco. I am anticipating Disaster more after this move. Hopefully the Wii and get a third Baten Kaitos title out of this as well.

just give me origins to Europe and I would be a very happy man.

Buy it and pray to the gods of Sigs: Naznatips!

So you have a Wii and you weren't buying Smash Bros. but you will if Kos-Mos is in it?

If you own a Wii and won't get Smash Bros. that is just strange...

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

So Nintendo is buying companies out >.> It's a good choice the one they did pick though. Monolith has some potential.

Nintendo seems to have a good taste.

Does anyone know who owns the rights of the baten kaitos series? would be great if it would be Monolith!

Maybe you should import Baten Kaitos Origins along with a freeloader as I did. If I remember correctly I ordered the game plus freeloader at videogamesplus.ca, you need a credit card though. Both items together did cost me about 70 euro including shipping. You also need an extra memory card for game saves, it's not possible to share US and european files on the same card without  harming each other as far as I know.

had some idea about that, didn't know about the memory card. Hmm wonder if I can find a cheap one somewhere. (can you use american in PAL cubes?)

I'm excited to here this news as well. It's good to see Nintendo actually spending it's money. But the only thing I don't think is happening here is Nintendo getting franchise rights. Namco most likely still owns the right to xenosaga and baiton katios, so unless they worked out a deal, Nintendo is really only getting a capable studio. Although getting more new IPs from Nintendo or even a cool franchise revival in the future wouldn't bother me.

You can use any memory cards on any gamecube, the same is true for controllers. One save file of Baten Kaitos Origins takes up only 6 blocks, so you don't need to waste money on a multiple MB memory card (unless you plan to import some more games from america ).

EDIT: Your TV has to support 60Hz to play NTSC games, but I guess you knew that anyway.

I actully think that you have to have a 60 Hz tv to play baten kaitos PAL. But that is another thing.

EDIT:

thanks for the site before, I might make a big order from there soon. (I have a lot to play for the moment).

I always thought that you can save Uk and Us savegames to the same memorycard, but you would need own card for japanese games. Dunno, i might be wrong about that.

"Also, you'll need to use separate memory cards for Japanese and UK/US game data"

"It's not possible to save both Japanese and UK/US game data on one memory card; if you try to use your existing memory card with Japanese games it will automatically be reformatted. Likewise, if you try to save UK/US game data onto a memory card which contains Japanese game data, the card will be reformatted"

"My memory card data was corrupted though when I mixed US and UK formats so I would not recommend others make the same mistake"

I'm getting mixed messages about this. Damn.

Nothing's cheaper than something free.

F1 vs FOTA, when too much power is in couple peoples hands.

I'm not a fan of the SSB series.  The only fighting games I've enjoyed are the classic Street Fighter 2 (and Turbo), Tekken 3, and mainly the Soul Calibur series, and the Saturn/Dreamcast versions of Virtual On. :)

Most of my tastes aren't mainstream, I understand that, but I've never card about playing with the "in" crowd, I'd rather follow my own beat. :)

Nobody is crazy enough to accuse me of being sane.
