Forums - Nintendo - DSi XL Touchscreen issue

Yo.  Got a question about the touchscreen portion of the DS.  Mine in particular is a little light at the bottom left hand corner when the screen goes completely dark.  When the entire touchscreen is lit, no probs and it looks great.  But when the entire screen goes black (of course when still on), it looks like there is a slight glow in the lower left hand corner.  Is this common with most DS's regular and/or XL?  Now just recently, I applied a screen protector to the DS.  So maybe I damaged the screen while trying to work the bubbles out between the protector and touchscreen.  Or maybe it was already there and I didn't noticed it until now.  But is it pretty common, and is there anything I can do to fix it whether it was my fault or not?

Well, I guess my post isn't controversal enough or trolling enough to warrant any proper attention.  Maybe if I were to say something like "DS SUCKS" I might get half the forum members here coming down on me for all the wrong reasons.  Or maybe it's because the non-Nintendo fans couldn't respond because of their lack or expereince with Nintendo hardware.  Or maybe the Nintendo fanboys didn't respond because I'm a gamer who also game with Sony products.  Maybe I should troll next time if I want a response.  Seems like common practice around here.

Lol, calm down.

I never actually heard of this problem. I have an XL, and its screens are fine. Well, apart from a very minor yellowish hue to the top screen. But that IS a pretty common issue, I've heard, and nothing too noticeable.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, especially since it only occurs when the screen goes black.

Checked my DS Lite, GBA Micro, 3DS, and Wii U pad and didn't notice a glow in corner while screen is black/blank. Maybe you were a little rough getting the bubbles out? I did have a damaged touch screen on my original DS after taking it out of box new (dent on left side). Had to send it in to get a replacement for free. At least this problem only happens on a blank screen so doesn't sound too serious.

This is indeed a common issue.

I had one single constant red pixel on my original DS, and one blue on the touch screen of my 3DS. No fix available as far as I know.

Sounds like your common variety type backlight bleed, maybe a little more pronounced than usual. Many LCDs have it, some worse than others.

It can sometimes get better, and there are some methods online you can try to make the screen more uniform, but I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. There's nothing wrong with your DSi XL is that's what you were thinking. Just try not to pay attention to it and you'll forget it's even there.

Thanks for all the responses. Thankfully for me, I do not have this yellow tint on the top screen, and I do not have any dead pixels. Currently, my brightness is set to 3 which originally it was set to 4 so the glow is a little less noticeable. I take a lot of pride in gaming and my gaming gear. It would be so ironic that my attempt to protect my equipment with a screen protector inadvertently damaged it. And I did some research on the backlight issue for LCD screens. From more of what I've read, it's fairly common. It's one thing if I noticed from the start, but it wasn't until after the protector was applied.
