I've never heard about xplay before this post....
Its a nice page, but I couldn't find his MP3 review...someone knows why isn't there?
1 2 3 not only you and me.
Livin' in sin is the new thing.

I'm going to guess... neither. Both the people likely to read IGN or X-Play are hardcore gamers. So they by other sites info (and show?) know what they want.
You pretty much have to seek out either site. If I had a gun pointed to my head though and had to pick one i'd say IGN, because i don't know if X-play has more viewers then IGN or what... but i'd guess IGN influences people harder.
X-play is completly worthless to me though... both hosts are creepy and they're review score is out of 5... and they only use whole numbers... and their reviews have the depth of the kiddy pool in the Keebler elves treehouse factory.

nevere heard of Xplay before this thread so i'm gonna say IGN for me personally, after all it's just persuaded me not to buy No More Heroes

Xplay is a TV show about videogames on what is for me channel.... 200 something... on G-Tech.
Which you would expect to be a TV channel about tecnology, but in reality appears to be an even crappier Spike TV.
It's hosted by a man and a woman.
The man looks and sounds like just about every pedofile you've ever seen on Law and Order SVU and other similar shows and movies. (Like picture the guy from "Prison Break" dialed back a notch, but more annoying.)
The woman has some really weird speaking inpedament. Many people attribute this to her reading clumsly off cue cards or a teleprompter and knows nothing about videogamdes, but i believe that's how she just really talks. I mean if they just wanted some random girl to read off a telepromper and pretend she likes games they would of picked a much hotter girl. She's not ugly but she's not super hot or anything.
Either way, her speach impedement is extremely annoying.

Ha I'm just bitter. It's the kind of show by premise that i should love... but thanks to execution sucks.

You guys are like innocent, untouched flowers, blooming to the waking world.
Honestly, however, your poll is flawed. Asking people in an internet medium which is more popular, a website which they frequent often, or a tv show, which somehow they have never heard of.
I'm not one to throw around the terms "hardcore" and "softcore" lightly, but if you've ever heard a podcast, you know what Xplay is, my 90 year old grandmaw has accidently watched it between Cops reruns.
Believe it or not, the vast gaming market is made up mostly of casual gamers.
Now, casual gamers don't know about IGN, nor do they know about Xplay, but most people do have G4, and Xplay does run about 5 times a day.
Just by the relative chance, more people will accidently see Xplay, than will get on IGN to look up reviews.
That said, Gamespot is leaps and bounds ahead of IGN in terms of gaming review popularity. Why, you ask? The numbers seem close you say? Honestly, must I make all these deductions for you?
IGN isn't a game based website. They have a wide array of reviews, babes of the week, movies, sports and all kinds of stuff. Gamespot is a strictly review based gaming site.
So, the very insignificant amount of gamers actually affected by online reviews are less affected by IGN then they are Gamespot, and in turn, both of these are trumphed by Xplay, because the medium of Television is far more appealing to the casual gaming audience, who also watches Attack of the Show, games in their spare time, and believes they are internet insiders because they watch The Loop.
Believe it or not, this thread is a passive agressive flame towards me, as I asserted, correctly, that Xplay is a bigger influence to Wii fans who have never heard of No More Heroes, than is IGN, because if Wii fans had never heard of the game, they are far less likely to look it up on IGN, than they are to accidently see it on TV. NOT TO MENTION that Xplay and G4 have their own website, boards, and internet community, which I'm sure has a respectible amount of daily hits, as well as their television show. All reviews are available, and I believe Xplay is availabe in podcast form.
Now, I'm getting through to you. If games did sell according to review scores, however, NMH would be a blockbuster. It's critically acclaimed, universally loved, and the lowest score has hovered about an 8, or 4/5.

As for "Me," the poster, I rejoice in the fact that your not buying this wonderful game. Someone with enough intelligence to let the lowest available and least respected review of a game, 8/10, completely deter them from playing what is probably the most critically acclaimed non-shooting action game so far this generation, either is a "fakeboy"(as in, Wii hater) and wasn't gonna buy the game anyway, or never deserved to play it in the first place. You think you have power because us "Nintendo fanboys" don't have your sale, when in actuality, I could care less. I'm in it for the games, and the Wii just got a AAAExclusive, first one of 08. You know, people said the Wii would never get a 3rd party AAAexclusive.
The Wii is passing a lot of expectations, though, isn't it?
This topic can't be accurate, nor this question be answered, because not a single person here has the information required to back up their assertions. Nobody knows Xplays averge viewing audience, or has a poll to determine how seriously they take either IGN's reviews, or Xplays reviews.
I do know this, however, from a hardcore gamers perspective. Over at the gamespot boards, the most popular gaming review website, posting an IGN review will get you laughed out of the forum. Lots of hits for the chick of the week, though.
I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.
NO NO, NO NO NO.

completely deter them from playing what is probably the most critically acclaimed non-shooting action game so far this generation - by who exactly? does that include Super Mario Galaxy?
