Total hardware down 1m units YOY.

damn you're right! That's pretty ugly for the industry in a whole especially when you have all those new systems on shelves.

Any pre-launch manufactured WiiU's have obviously been used up now or are being used up now. At this stage we are definitely seeing made (or shipped) then sold, and the allocations are very consistent week to week and region to region. Nintendo said before launch that they would ship 5.5mil by the end of March, so expecting them to be shipping more than 400k per week would be completely unrealistic. Demand may or may not be strong in Europe, but we can't tell from these numbers.  All we know now is how many Nintendo is giving them. Anyone who has ever followed game sales should know that Europeans will buy at least a million WiiU's even if it's a flop. There is at least that much demand. Saying Europe can't afford it or is rejecting it at this stage is a joke.

Looks like the time of huge holiday gaps in the 360s favor is over.

Why didn't sony release the 12gb PS3 in north america? seems to be doing wonders in europe.

Sure, after 7 years and increasing market-saturation of seventh-gen-consoles this is not surprising.

Looking at these hardware numbers tells me the Japanese are the only ones with any sense.

Wii U Nintendo Network ID, Borode

XBOX Live ID, Borode

Wii U at 2.2 million now. Might be at 2.6 or 2.7 next week. That's close to 3 million by the end of the year.

3DS pretty much matched last year's hardware sales at this point. Whatever it sales next week will be a YoY growth.

Well Europe has mostly been a bit slow with adapting to new consoles except with the playstation branding. and even that has slowed down a lot since PS3 days and even more with Vita. The WiiU is nowhere near from supply constraint, you can find them anywhere in both versions and some stores even give discounts already. But i don't think that means the console will flop, it's just that the competition offers the better deals at the moments with much more affordable hardware and more and bigger software. Plus Nintendo did a crappy job with the Wii Brand for the last 2 years, no games, no advertisment, people forget fast if you don't keep your product attractive! The Wii U ads are not good either, i still constantly meet people who think its just an add-on for the Wii and not a new console! They really have to work on that! But when the price comes down a little and more games are available, i think they will be fine. Below the golden Wii levels, but just fine!

3DS was heavily discounted during the week posted in NA so im not too surprised about the number considering where it was black friday

Yeah. Too bad PSV didn't have any good deal but still manage to move a massive amount. It could have easily outsold 3DS if it had at least 1 appealing bundle or many a new big name game.

I know right, seems like sony is taking the high road and not killing their margins by offering the psvita bundle with a 3rd party game for 249 as opposed to nintendo who had 2 3DS models available, discounted them both, bundled the XL with their own first party game (which would have sold on it own) seems to me a big margin hit to sell some consoles.
