I didnt make this a WiiU doom thread btw, it was just an observation i made when i visited a local trade in store to buy some games. I couldnt believe how frivolous people can be with large amounts of money. I love my WiiU

You didn't, but that didn't stop people to make it so. You should blame Obama. He's pretty good at taking blames.

Thats true blame Obama! Its all his damn fault! Socialism!

Technically an easy screw up for Sony/Microsoft to make is releasing a next gen system at a high price point.. they do that.. and combined with the fact that by Next Year WiiU will most likely see some great games and really be put out there on display... WiiU might get another easy win in total sells.. that being said.. I think people are trading them in.. getting what they really want.. and some might pick them up later.. I

Everyone knows more powerful tech is expected from next gen consoles. The Wii U's 2013 so far doesn't look anywhere near to the year of the PS3 or 360 itself, so how could it hope to outshine the next gen consoles from those guys? Nintendo will shoot for the casuals the second they see 2013's sales for the newest console(s), mark my words.

Well honestly if last gen and to a point this gen proved one thing more advanced tech does not matter until later in the cycle when prices go down. If it truly did.. I think Vita and 3DS numbers would look quite different.. don't you?? With that being said a couple of things to consider..

1. Yes the 360/PS3 has a good year coming.. of course that is a double bladed sword.. because it may actually hurt the launch of the PS4/720. Why should you pay for a new system when you have one that is still having good games released.. plus most launchg titles.. are not that impressive.. anymore.. if you want gamers to shell out the bucks.. you better have more then 1 good game..

2. Everyone also knows the 360/PS3 is ending it's life cycle soon.. and more games may not be coming.. and the ones that are will probably be ports.. alot of people will want a system that has some games and will have games made for it in the future.. with the WiiU they will have this.. plus.. like I said.. it is more then likely.. the initial price sticker on the 720/PS4 is going to be so much.. that it will just make the WiiU sell that much better.. and like I said.. expect WiiU to get some really good titles next year.. this will also help..

I am sorry.. I think the PS4/720 will do fine.. but I really don't see them appealing or selling that well if the companies charge 500-600 dollars for their systems.. except to the few really hardcore gamers.. that must have the newest systems on launch.. and the fans of respective companies.. but this is all future speak.. who knows.. the companies may launch at a 400.00 price point at which they could do well... I think...

yup. People in forums asking," why get Wii-U when PS3 and Xbox 360 is cheaper?"

I ask why even get PS4 and xbox 720 then?

The PS4 and 720 aren't truthfully competing against their older iterations. Late adopters always go for the cheaper console when the gen is almost complete. The Wii U however is competing with last gen and will get outshined next year. I hope to god they get their own version of GTA or else well....

Nastradmus jr is on the loose again. Bookmark him. He can talk a lot out of his ass.

Wii-U is competing for both  gens. They haven't even started throwing out the big guns. They dont need to announse anything as of yet. It is pretty much a waiting game. They never said it will sell better than the Wii. How about I say in terms of software, hardware and profitability the Wii-U will have Durango and Orbis hold their ankles?

I always see traded-in consoles like a week or two after they launch in CEX or various other trade-in shops. Don't understand why people do it really.

I'll make a bet with you right now that the Wii U will be outshined.

what is outshined? the cover of the console? what does it mean to you?

I already gave you my definition. Your statement is vague in fact nonsensical.

Because a 360 is last generation and a 7 year old hunk of junk, jeez stop comparing the Wii U with the 360 and PS3, they're different generations.

Wii U launch is much more successful than the ps3 and 360 launches. If it makes anyone feel better to ignore this fact and pretend otherwise go right ahead.

The Wii U is the only new console out on the market.  The PS3 at $500-600 and 360 at $300-400 were competing against the $250 Wii and $99-149 PS2.  The Wii U is only $40-90 more and is being outsold by the PS3, against the 360 the Wii U is also being outsold but it's $100-150 more.  The PS3 when it first launched was $250-350 more than the Wii and $350-450 more than the PS2s higher $149 price before it dropped down to $99.  The 360 was $50-150 more than the Wii and $200-300 more than the PS2 at $149.

The Wii U price difference is far smaller for its release than the PS360 price difference.

The Wii U is currently selling a little more than the Wii did due to the Wii's limited stock over the holidays.

I don't really think the Wii U is going to keep this up because whenever going to stores, I always see a large number of both Wii U versions in stock.  It looks as if the casual people who don't play games aren't jumping on this one like they did with the Wii.  I think most of the sales the Wii U is currently receiving are from gamers, Nintendo fanboys, and people who preordered multiple consoles in attempts to flip it on Ebay for more.

*edit*

While the sales do look slow for right now because the system isn't selling out, for a launch it's doing better than last gen but not selling to expectations.  We'll know whether the system is selling good or not after we're a few months out of the holiday season.

The 3DS is selling amazingly well though.  Over one million just last week according to VGChartz updated numbers.

I guess so.

Those of us that havent bought one yet thank them though. xD Though tbh, i dont think i'd buy used.

Maybe it just wasnt what they expected. Or they purchased thinking they could sell for more on e-bay.
