Forums - Gaming - Old games: Second chance in mobile market?- Blame consoles for any sort of gaming downfall!

There aren't too many winners in the mobile market either. Most barely make any money. There are only a few true success stories. I don't view mobile market saving gaming. It is just complimenting it.  Nintendo seems to be treating indie developers a lot better than almost any platform right now.

Mobile market? Psh... old games have been getting a second chance on my PC for over a decade now

A recent example would be Geomon. May be spelled wrong. I know there are many more examples. Maybe we should be happy mobile is so popular or we may have never had a chance to see some of these properties again.

 

Almost seems like the mobile market has saved gaming. Console developers have done nothing but destroy it. Free to play, downloadable content, online, etc. for a 60 dollar game.

Actually, this re-release of old games on mobile devices has caused a false sense of low development costs.

And they have done the same thing with virtual consoles.  

As far as so many games being released and not making money, everyone thinks they will be the next Rivio.

Not sure what the answer is, though I doubt that on-game ads is the answer.

People treat the mobile market like the lottery. They can't comprehend low odds but high reward scenarios, in other words think of all the 'aspiring actresses' in California.

It is such a mistake to not bring old classics back in full force across the board. Classics never die.

Most people just get emulators on Android phones to play the classics (for free or one time purchase of emulator).



The reason why there are so many mobile games released is because of the supposed ease of developing them. Not to mention that there isn't as much (or any) restrictions in place in releasing them, as with a console (going through Nintendo, Sony or Microsoft). There are some games that I wouldn't mind ported to consoles, but most of them just don't feel right.

That's not to mention that you're wading through a lot more crap than even on consoles. There may be free games, but there's a lot of "free games" on smartphones, with the added pay to win structure. That's something that the mobile release of Theatrhythm has, I believe. It only has a handful of songs and in order to get more, you need to pay.
