The reason why there are so many mobile games released is because of the supposed ease of developing them. Not to mention that there isn't as much (or any) restrictions in place in releasing them, as with a console (going through Nintendo, Sony or Microsoft). There are some games that I wouldn't mind ported to consoles, but most of them just don't feel right.
That's not to mention that you're wading through a lot more crap than even on consoles. There may be free games, but there's a lot of "free games" on smartphones, with the added pay to win structure. That's something that the mobile release of Theatrhythm has, I believe. It only has a handful of songs and in order to get more, you need to pay.
