Forums - Sales - Xbox 360 sales

i don't know if this was posted or not before, i looked and couldn't find one, but is it me or does anyone else think that the reason the 360 has a bigger user base is cause of the RRoD, cause they go to the store and buy another, cause i know a few ppl that have done that, and obvious that sale will rise do to that, so what if the actually amount for a user base is actually like 12m or somethin, thoughts/opions anyone?

P.S. before u think i'm a 360 hater i'm not i've owned it since launch, and i also own a Wii and a PS3 so i'm not a fanboy, i jus like to game, but i do prefer the PS3 over the other 2.

Wow then think what the software tie ratio really is.

Nice try.

Libraries sell systems not individual games

The 360 is under warranty (RROD) for three years... so they can buy another one, but it would be stupid since they can get it replaced for free.

If anything, the RRoD scared potential customers away, so without it, sales would be higher.

.......o comon
how many people do you think really do this, the only people i know who have actually bought more then 1 are usually sony fanboys trying to create crap and exclaim theyve bought 5 360s and all of them broke,
there are exceptions of course but not big at all

@Gebx -- True. But the warranty extension is farily new and a lot of people may not know about it or may be too lacking in intelligence to follow the proper procedure.

Nevertheless, I would guess that repurchases probably account for less than 500K of 360 sales (pulling a number out of the air).

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

I'm one as Chrizum pointed out who choose PS3 over 360 because of the RRoD.

Well, there are definitely some people buying a new 360 to replace a failed unit because they're unaware of the 3 year 3RROD warranty, or because they're dealing with a non-3RROD failure.

Some don't know that buying a repair for $100 or $140 or whatever from MS means they get a one-year warranty with their repair.  Some assume that a new box wouldn't fail although a refurb will.  Some people want an excuse to buy an elite ("because it's the best"), and some people buy one and plan on selling their refurb.

The latter case is fairly prevalent -- you can see how many refurbs are available for sale.
