I paint in both oils and using a Wacom with Photoshop's brush engine. I worked in black and white for a very long time, mostly in pencils, but somewhat in color pencils/pastels too. I started in digital about 10 years ago when I was more of a hobbyist. See: avatar
I used to write short stories on a typewriter we owned a long time ago when we didn't have computers. (Nice thing about having and using a typewriter, I already could find the keys and was pretty fast before we got a computer and I had to take Keyboarding in school.) I stopped writing a few years later because I saw so many problems with my writing and really didn't have much passionto continue it as a creative tool. I sometimes can't make up my mind with what direction to go with themes, but that's not such a problem with pictures as long as you plan enough the 'feel' or 'point' of the image.
With writing I get so lost in the details. Critics can tear apart my work in art and I can generally appreciate and see their perspective. When someone tears apart my writing, I guess I can't see the whole picture (har har) for all the words so it's way more frustrating...Art is more relaxing lol...so I stopped years ago. Otherwise I wrote a lot and drew a lot, even in class where teachers would be annoyed but impressed at the same time...
My hubby writes very well though. If I ever needed a writer for a story, I wouldn't need to go very far lol...
When I was younger, most of my time was spent playing videogames to the point my family complained frequently lol... but I did take breaks and go outside. LOL Somehow I found time for friends inbetween all that. I usually liked people more if they played games too, because then I had someone to play with. Outside of that, drawing and writing. It probably made my parent's happy I wasn't just interested in videogames and playing in dirt... they probably thought I was a lesbian.
