Pretty much all devs I like the most have been posted already. I would also add Sony Santa Monica. They do some amazing work. And also Sony BEND. such an underrated dev

I'd remove Id and Rare. This being a current top 10, those two studios have increasingly become less relevant with time, their glory days appear well behind them.

Other possibilities for those spots in my opinion would be:

Bethesda Softworks- Fallout and the Elder Scrolls series.

Bioware- Mass Effect and Dragon Age.

Retro Studios- Mario Kart and Metroid Prime.

Maxis- Simcity and the Sims.

Nintendo EAD.

Sony Santa Monica definitely, and not just for the games they've developed but also for all the games they've assisted with. I'd include Thatgamecompany, as well, to be honest.

 You've included some externally developed published games in your list, is that intentional? LA Noire, for instance.

As pezus menionted, Spyro and a few of the Ratchet games are excellent. I think recently though they've started to decend into mediocrity, so I don't think they deserve a spot on a top 10 list.

I agree.  I have a mixed emotions with them.  Even though Spyro and R&C are great they are not ground breaking or the best of their class.  Much like rare they have fallen a little.  And just like Rare they still make good games but nothing like they use to either.  I'll may put them on the list anyways though and just get rid of th etop 10 in the title.  

I won't rank them because it's just too much to consider so I'll just list 10 that jump out to me personally

-Rockstar: GTA, Red Dead, LA Noire, Max Payne 3. The king of open world games.

-Blizzard: WoW, Starcraft, other Warcrafts, and Diablo make them the most important PC developer in my mind

-Naughty Dog: Just so solid. 4 games every gen that I've enjoyed or am going to enjoy immensely (Crash 1 not so much but I was playing it just this past year so I'm sure it was much better in its time) also making awesome cart racers, open world games, cinematic games, and straight up platformers shows an awesome versatility

-Insomniac: Everything up to All4One was gold. Ratchet is my favorite game series of all time and Resistance 3 is right up there with Half-Life 2 for my favorite shooters ever. Spyro was my second favorite series on PSone next to Crash. I love watching them and ND duke it out for Playstation dominance each gen and can only hope it happens again next gen.

-Sucker Punch: Sly and Infamous are awesome

-Sony Santa Monica: God of War, God of War, God of War. Yeah they're a 1 trick pony but damn that is one AWESOME trick.

-Nintendo (I don't like to count them as one developer because I'm sure it's not always the same people working on their games so that's cheating to put them under one umbrella like that)

-Valve: Not really into Portal or Team Fortress but Half Life is my favorite FPS franchise so they have to be in here

-Konami: MGS. Hated 2 but 3 is still a game I can go back to anytime and not skip a cutscene. Best story in a game in MGS3 and best story in a game series for my money.

-Bethesda: Fallout isn't my cup of tea but Oblivion and Skyrim have been the games I've sunk the most hours into this gen
