Has anyone gone out and searched for 3rd party confirmation that the PS2 is still selling what is shown in Sony's financial report from last year 2012?

Looking through this thread and others on the same topic, I see the same few people questioning the creditable of this website. Please provide a little more evidence beyond your now bias and Sony's potentially slanted numbers.

The evidence is in Sony's financial reports for each quarter.  They combine PS3 and PS2 numbers now, which means some of those numbers are for the PS2.

Yeah I looked through them last week, I'm looking for an website or some other source of information that isn't Sony or Vga chartz because both sides of argument like to question crediabity of said sources.

You don't have to look for any source besides Sony.  They can't lie on their financials.  To do so would be devistating to their company when it was found out.  Also, this site always adjusts numbers according to official numbers from companies, like Sony, Nintendo, and MS.  As well as numbers from other professional tracking companies, like NPD and Media Create.  That's not to bash this site, as they do the best they can with what they have, but they don't have the resources that the professionals do.  It does lend to their credibility that they adjust their numbers to be in line with all the others.  Unfortunately, when they let things like this to be posted as fact, it doesn't help add to that credibility.

people should just wait for nintendo's numbers. Nintendo is the best source to know sony and MS numbers.

wtf's the point in comparing handhelds to non-handhelds? I don't think anyone compares mobile phones to non-mobile phones...It's nothing more then fanboy flamebait at its worst.

Sure they do.  Mobile phone sales get compared to dedicated gaming handhelds (non-mobile phones) all the time.  Guiness Book of World's Records actually named the iPhone 4 as "the fastest selling portable gaming system" of all-time.  Not that I don't agree with the spirit of what you are saying, in that comparing apples to oranges is ridiculous.  Just wanted to point out that, yes, it does in fact go on.

I actually meant landline phones to mobile phones under the umbrella term of "phone", but yeah, I get what you are saying and it just shows a gross lack of understanding. Why is it that the iphone 4 counts as a portable gaming system yet the nokia's of yester-year do not? Surely that would make the most successful console producer Nokia due to the volume of phones they have shifted? Rediculous.

With that said, I think what Trunks meant to say is that Vgchartz still tracks PS2 sales. But none of it has been updated, as its hard to be accurate.
