Well I just downloaded and started the first Monkey Island, it's got a nice sense of humour to it, kind of compensates for it's bad graphics.

Day of tentacle is the best I have ever played. Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis is amazing. The first 3 Monkey Island are great, but the last one sucked hard.

In terms of art and music, I could agree with that.  I think a point and click would struggle to win overall for me.

If you like humor in your games (and it seems you do), all the "Leisure Suit Larry"'s would be a good choice.
