So a $600 multimedia focused system ... Sounds familiar

No. Much more than that.

The 360 too was already a multimedia focussed system.

Will it prepare coffee too?    This makes me think about http://www.caradvice.com.au/181600/fiat-500l-cute-italian-makes-coffee-go/

Will it prepare coffee? I wouldn't be surprised if you can get a home automation app for it which will turn your coffee machine on at a set time every morning.

With a PC you can already do it! The Master Race just rules everything! Coffee too.

Of course. The console peasants are always trying to catch up to their betters.

We get it STAGE, you hate Microsoft. Do everyone a favour and stop posting in every next Xbox thread about how Microsoft are some great evil entity please.

I tend to get that impression as well.

You guys are welcomed to your beliefs but their console has two games I like and their names are Halo and Gears. Those are my prime reasons for having the console, games. That is my major gripe with Microsoft, lack of competent game development. Everything they seem to think they are doing right has nothing to do with games, but rather to exploit and rape the industry of what its all about. I didnt come to feel this way about Microsofts movements with the Xbox 360 for a long period of time, for there was once a time where I was lashing out at Sony for making the wrong moves and praising Microsoft (the first three years of this gen). I give credit where its due, and take it away where it isnt deserved.

seeing as ms has some of the best selling exclusives i cant see how their game development is lacking competancy. I think they realise there is no point in over saturation of first party titles, when you can have third parties fill that gap nicely. It would be a different story if there was a lack of games or if ms was constantly closing studios. But as far as I know this year they have been opening and recruiting more studios than ever before, and they still have a great relationship with third parties. I have not seen a lack of games yet.  They are adding added functionaly that is all. Its not at the cost of their games either. Just more stuff, what is wrong with that?

Their best selling game is the same game they didnt start development with but bought off away from Apple and that is Halo. The idea and spirit of halo existed before Microsoft even got ahold of it. They paid Epic for their Gears game. Forza and Fable (and Forza) are the only semi popular in house games created by them. Halo is the game that made Microsoft relevant. They cannot be compared in actual in house games that survived. They've increased their party of companies but at the same time hope those games succeed because if they fail you know what Microsoft will do to them.

United States

Europe

Canada

They have a good 20 studios and they have been expanding in recent times. I don't see why they won't have an abundance of new I.P. at the start and over the first few years of their console development as you can also +1 Bungie's first independant game so at minimum they will likely have a 5M+ selling new I.P. >60% chance even if that is only a timed exclusive. I'm personally most interested in what 'Playful Learning' is producing given that I believe education could be a huge growth area for consoles.

Tease.

^^ Bungie's new IP is going to be a timed exclusive?

I expect Microsoft to work out a deal with Direct TV or Comcast for cable in the states for the next Xbox. The gaming industry is about to get exploited in the worst way. GO AMERICA!! XCABLEBOX 2013!!!

Microsoft and cable companies know how to monopolize.

All that Sony did for 2 gens is jack off about their console specs and live off 3rd party exclusives. So I am not sure with your Microsoft beef is here... You seem to believe that the only games that matter are franchises which can be milked fir sequels every year. Microsoft has 4 of those but lots of other solid games they invested in to and brought to their system. Brute Force was Pretty fun IMO and could have been milked for more sequels... Alan Wake sequel would be welcome too. Maybe if they start milking more of their games, you will see Microsoft as a company that invests in to games?

Sony was no slouch with first party, they just were buried in third party. Microsoft milks too much and makes few games that stick, if you look at their two generations. Sony has only added to their list of first party.
