I tend to get that impression as well.

You guys are welcomed to your beliefs but their console has two games I like and their names are Halo and Gears. Those are my prime reasons for having the console, games. That is my major gripe with Microsoft, lack of competent game development. Everything they seem to think they are doing right has nothing to do with games, but rather to exploit and rape the industry of what its all about. I didnt come to feel this way about Microsofts movements with the Xbox 360 for a long period of time, for there was once a time where I was lashing out at Sony for making the wrong moves and praising Microsoft (the first three years of this gen). I give credit where its due, and take it away where it isnt deserved.

seeing as ms has some of the best selling exclusives i cant see how their game development is lacking competancy. I think they realise there is no point in over saturation of first party titles, when you can have third parties fill that gap nicely. It would be a different story if there was a lack of games or if ms was constantly closing studios. But as far as I know this year they have been opening and recruiting more studios than ever before, and they still have a great relationship with third parties. I have not seen a lack of games yet. They are adding added functionaly that is all. Its not at the cost of their games either. Just more stuff, what is wrong with that?

Their best selling game is the same game they didnt start development with but bought off away from Apple and that is Halo. The idea and spirit of halo existed before Microsoft even got ahold of it. They paid Epic for their Gears game. Forza and Fable (and Forza) are the only semi popular in house games created by them. Halo is the game that made Microsoft relevant. They cannot be compared in actual in house games that survived. They've increased their party of companies but at the same time hope those games succeed because if they fail you know what Microsoft will do to them.
