Soul Calibur VI w/Link + Gannondorf would make a lot of sense, especially if it could be whipped up quickly for summer/fall 2013.

Smash Brothers is probably still a ways off.

Look at how Sould Calibur V sold.....Barely 1m on PS3360 combined.

A more recent example is Tekken Tag Tournament 2. It's not doing too hot on the Wii U or even PS3/360.

My point? A bunch of mediore games that struggle to hit 1m won't do anything to differentiate Wii U from PS3/360. People are already not buying the Soul Caliburs and Tekkens on consoles they already own, so the odds of them buying a Wii U for these is close to 0%.

Nintendo's not in the same boat a Sony is though. If they were a sports team, they'd have their superstar players (Mario, Zelda, Wii/Mii franchise, etc.).

What Nintendo lacks is supporting players to fill out their roster. You can't pump out a Mario game every 4 months.

They need more games to ensure a steady flow of game releases.

And definitely I think a Soul Calibur game with Link/Ganondorf as playable characters with perhaps a Zelda stage or two, would sell quite well on the Wii U.

Nintendo fans respond to content that is specifically made for them, that's why Zombi U can outsell Black Ops 2 and Assassin's Creed 3 on the Wii U, Nintendo fans don't take to the same things PS3/360 fans do.

Tekken Tag is OK, but it really just doesn't fit with the Nintendo tie-ins. They just come off weird. Soul Calibur with Link as a playable character always just worked well, he's a character known for wielding a sword -- putting him in a sword fighting game that tends to center around the mideval era is simply a good fit.

Shenmue 3

how about sega in general

If anyone was going to buy Sega it would be Microsoft. They have worked very closely together on several occasians and it would give MS a much needed local identity to Japanese gamers.

Nintendo has no need for Sega's back cataloge of franchises.

Nintendo and SEGA have far more synergies. Mario and Sonic game, game gear games on the virtual console for example, Sonic always performs the best on nintendo consoles and both companies are japanese (cultural issues and social acceptance). Nintendo has full need of SEGA now. Its the best way to atract the core gamer without affecting the family friendly Nintendo brand.

Microsoft can perfectly buy SEGA, but that would end in disaster. Theres no way the Japanese studios and the US microsoft ones would work well. All this would end up doing is locking SEGA's IP's so no one else can use cause we know microsoft wouldnt bother to get anything else out except Sonic wich is the million seller.

Nintendo doesn't need Sega franchises, but MS could. Nintendo does fine in Japan, they don't need more Japanese appeal. MS could use a Japan footing.

BTW, your opinion of MS is far too cynical.

Umm.. is it? Maybe we can take a look at what happened to RARE? It worked at first but then it collapsed.

What happened to RARE was not Microsoft's intention. They bought RARE for the talent and IPS. But all the talent left and the IPs failed at retail. MS did not happen to RARE. RARE happened to RARE and MS did the best with what it had left. If MS bought SEGA they would most likely consolidate it some to save soem costs but they would probably let Sega run itself as a Japanese base for MS gaming. They would probably slap the SEGA logo on every Xbox product in Japan to make the locals finaly take notice of the Xbox brand. It still boggles the mind that Japanese gamers still refuse to jump on the Halo band wagon of awsomeness.

They should just buy THQ.

Saints Row, uDraw, Red Faction, Metro.

Banjo-Kazooie and Killer Instinct

The Jet Set Radio series: Custom tags via the Gamepad, opening up the game for sand box game play and other legit next gen options seem like just the thing to make this series actually successful this time around.

Shining Force: Making a new addition to the Shining Force series that actually is made by series developers Camelot would be awesome. I can see this having the most success as a download title in the west. Maybe even released as a episodic story.

Beyond Good and Evil 2: Seems obvious, this project could use some help getting off the ground, adding in the Nintendo touch and exclusivity may be just what the franchise needs.

Star Ocean: After the failures of the last two games, I think they could use one more chance to redeem this series so that it goes down in history as more then a Tales of type game that failed to reach the same acclaim.

Skies of Arcadia 2...

Both have a small cult following
Both have ideas for a sequel
Both required funding which nobody else offered.

That would be a foot-in-the-door for the JRPG market, should Nintendo not want to deal directly with Square.

How about striking a deal with Blizzard and getting World of Warcraft and Starcraft 2 trilogy (or next Warcraft RTS) on the console as an exclusive?  Maybe do something new.  Push to make the Wii U THE console of choice for RTS would be good.  Pretty much, don't go just titles, but lock down genres.

Possibly buying Sega would be a good option also.

Some Resident Evil game.

Kingdom Hearts 3.

Sony games once they leave hardware.

e=mc^2

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)

I like how Nintendo fans argue how this is such a huge victory or something. But Bayonetta didn't even sell that much on PS3/360. What makes you think it will be more successful on a Nintendo console? Sure Nintendo is publishing it so that could give it more recognition, but this is a sequel to a game most Wii U owners have never played.

This is probably a game that can bring over some PS3/360 owners, but not by itself. If Nintendo wants to get the "core" gamer then they need to more stuff like this. Bayonetta 2 isn't enough.

Well, Platinum is also developing the Wonderful 101 and possibly more for Nintendo. And maybe it only seems insignificant to you because you aren't considering the history of Clover Studios/Platinum Games and Capcom/Nintendo.
