Nintendo was so surprised at how bloody awful 3ds sales were that they cut the pice by $80 less then a year after launch. The fact that the psvita hasn't been able to even match those awful sales is not a good sign. Sony can't afford to permanently slash the price any time soon. Sales are very very disappointing considering this isn't sony's first handheld.

well, you're also talking a fanbase of 130 million ds owners to 60m psp owners

It matched the sales...it just took longer, and even at a higher price. 3ds was 250, vita was 250 and 300 and required a memory card on top of that. So, something like 10% more expensive with half the fanbase.

Black Friday is a prime example that the demand for ps vita is there. I think most people is waiting for that sweet price spot

The HP Touchpad fire-sale is a prime example that the demand for the HP Touchpad was there. I think most people was waiting for that sweet price spot.

Cherry-picking of useless statistics. Early large price cuts mean nothing for healthy sales. Case in point: PS2 was 2/3 of its $300 launch price exactly one year and seven months after its launch. Think that's bad? By one and a half years after its launch, the PS1 had dropped 50% in price. And neither of these systems had particularly bad sales at all at any point really, meaning that early price cuts do not mean that the system's situation is grim and, by extension, the absence of this in Vita's case is nothing to be thrilled about.

you just think im cherry picking because you obviously mossed the point. This had nothing to do with saying 3ds was grim or that consoles that price cut are in dire straits. The point is that not all is as grim as depicted, it has at least stayed on par or slightly worse than a now successful console.

Weren't 3DS sales pre-pricecut higher than Vita LTD sales are now? I wouldn't really call anything about the Vita a victory just yet, although I feel a price-cut would give the system a much needed boost. It's really not a bad system, games look amazing on it. (However, I only have PS1 Classics so far, so that's the only stuff I'm able to judge atm. xD)

Get Persona 4 Golden nao ;o

This.

I can't see how going from 10 million estimated to less than 5 million units sold in the FY2012 can be considered not as grim as depicted.

maybe you should look up the word demand, instead of making sarcastic remarks.

This thread shows that demand for 3ds and vita pre-price cuts, were similar.

demand= price×sales

You can find demand in every temporal sale, that's why the black Friday example isn't as significant as some of you want to believe. There is a compulsory aspect in purchases.

PS: Some people said that the Vita was going to destroy the 3DS at 250 US$, but it needed double the time and one christmas in Japan and a Black friday in USA to sell the same than the 3DS during the slower months of the year.

For reference, WW, it took sony 9 months exactly to sell what 3ds did in 5.

Doesn't look all that grim anymore does it?

Nice spin. But considering how DOOMED 3DS was considered during those 5 months, how "grim" it looked for that console at that time, yeah, it looks VERY grim for Vita. Have you seen Japanese sales? No Holiday boost whatsoever this year.

Please. If anything, this thread shows that demand for Vita is half that of 3DS pre-price cut. After all, it took half a Holiday season for it to get where 3DS got over the summer.
