it wont crush the PS4.. the ps4 will sell better

lol, not sure why they are avoiding you, but what you just posted here is certainly not helping as you are proving nothing wrong with Google:)

Try replacing "xbox360" by "xbox 360" next time... I do not think a lot of people are searching for "xbox360" in one word usually which is the case for the PS3.... http://www.google.com/trends/explore?hl=en-US#q=xbox%20360%2C%20PS3&cmpt=q

To illustrate my point, I did the same with "Playstation3" and "xbox360"... It is going the other way:

Oh, well I do certainly think Google tracks search trends correctly.

But, the point of the illustration is that search trends do not correlate to sales, and in a scenario where the numbers match up is a matter of happenstance. Empirical evidence only supports a "more searches = more information demand theory" rather than a "more searches = more purchase demand theory" (which the original article had posed).

I thought there was something fishy about that graph...

But doesn't this just confirm that there isn't a correlation? Because for the most part the PS3 has been outselling the 360 right? Maybe some of those 360 searches can be attributed to game searches ("game x 360"), which would make sense since more software is sold on 360... there's no real way of knowing that though.
