Forums - General - Quick question about shipping something from China (Ebay)

So I bought a Wheel Balancer for my dad and it was from China it's pretty big and probably weighs a lot, anyway the guy keeps asking me what port to ship it to? I assume he means harbor and gave him the closest big harbor to where it's going to ship to and he said it's no good. I have no idea why he needs that because I gave him the address to ship it to, so why is he asking me this I asked him severeal times and he keeps replying with "what's your shipping port it's urgent!".

Can anyone shed some light on me, this is my first big ebay purchase.

Questionable Chinese Ebay seller is questionable..
I can see no reason why he can't have it shipped to you.
No. 1 rule in buying or selling online. If something don't seem right, don't do it.

8th gen predictions. (made early 2014)
PS4: 60-65m
WiiU: 30-35m
X1: 30-35m
3DS: 80-85m
PSV: 15-20m

The only time I bought from China, they only needed my address. However, I try to not buy from outside of US.

Frankly, if he is an international seller, he should know how to handle it. I'd cancel it.

All good chinese sellers know how to handle it, by just giving them you're U.S. or whatever countries address. Something is obviously not correct there.

Oh boy. First time on ebay and buying from Chinese seller.

I once bought a Nintendo 3DS from a Chinese seller (yes I know it was a dumb move) and I got a small packet of bug repellent after 3 weeks :(

Good thing ebay has developed buyer protection. But anyway, they are not all bad. Only some.

That said the best option for you is to wait and see. I have been buying on ebay and from overseas sellers and haven't had anyone ever asking for the port. That should be handled by the postage company I would have imagined.

Not my first ebay purchase but my first BIG ebay pruchase (probably close to 100 pounds). The seller actually had pretty good feeback so no negatives in the last 12 months and it's all through Paypal.

Oh okay. The guy I bought from had like 100% positive feedback. The 3DS were selling for £80 (this should have been the catch) and around 300 people bought it at them time. But as soon as the listing was over the seller became NARU'd (Not A Registered User) and I never heard from him even after sending many messages. Fortunately ebay refunded the money and only the shipping cost of about £5 was lost.

So yeah as long as its through paypal you should be fine if worst comes true. May just lose shipping since ebay doesn't refund that.

Got this reply, he's actually really good at communication he's sent about half a dozen messages so far, all meaning the same thing.

"My friend,
Pls ask who know this .bz this tools it's very heavy ,need shipping out by ship by sea .so we must know which port in your country i send, maybe others people know this .our you can ask some shipping company ,they will be know and understand ,thanks !"

Shipping companies all closed now, so I'll call tomorrow.

A wheel balancer would be very heavy and would have to be shipped freight.  It would have to go through customs, and he probably has to document what port it's going to arrive in.  He should be able to get that on his end through the shipping company he is using though.

Stop hating and start playing.
