He is clearly trying to compare the 3DS (Original) to WiFi/3G Vita.
Nothing like trying to prove a point by taking the cheapest model and compare the price to the rivals most expensive model.

He should have known that for $250 you get a Vita, a memory card and Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation. For $50 less you get a 3DS XL and Mario Kart 7. That or $170 for a 3DS w/ Super Mario 3D Land.

Hardware wise I would go with Vita

Software wise I would say 3DS

Both consoles are great, and sexy and it really depends on the taste of each one. The 3DS does not only have great Nintendo titles, but also a good third party support while the Vita is kinda lacking.
However the battery of the 3DS is pure garbage and the console hurts a lot when playing for long periods of time (I know the XL kinda fixes this but it's ugly as hell)

The only point I disagree is the battery: both are really bad, I think it's on par (some comparison pointed that 3DS has a better battery, but there's the difference is insignificant).

I liked the 3DS analogic more than the vita one, but there's this problem with playing long time on 3DS, they hurts the right hand with the edge when I'm playing a racing game like Mario Kart 7 or Ridge Racer.

Overall (and I have both portables), I think the 3DS is better (I don't have XL version, but I want one), but the Vita is great too.

I've played both Kid Icarus and Resident Evil Revelations with 3D on.  They are not  'clearly better looking'.  Uncharted, LittlebigPlanet, Gravity Rush, Assassin's Creed III: Liberation, Rayman Origins, Persona 4 golden, Wipeout 2048....etc, are all better looking than ANYTHING on the 3DS. 

coming from a proud owner of both, the 3DS doesn't even remotely compare, graphics wise.  3D is a cool gimmick, but it's nothing compared to the OLED screen of the Vita. Hell, my OLED Vita screen looks better than my 40 inch LCD HD screen that I play most games on!  

it depends on wht ur looking for.

if ur looking for Nintendo. then 3ds. 3ds has a different type of third party, that's not so much westrn as it is JP.
if ur looking for everything else. Vita. Vita seems to be the most versatile console, so i'd go with Vita, which also has JP, but not as dedicated as 3DS.

also, leave out the that some Vita games can be found on PS3, so there's no need to own a Vita because, the 3DS has spinoff games aswell.

Oh yeah, the battery of the Vita is not better than 3DS, however I tend to be more forgiving because Vita can pull those graphics and last as much as the 3DS.

The 3DS is like a PSP enhanced and still the battery does not last past the 4hrs which is a shame, really.

And yeah, I prefer the 3DS too
