Saw this over at gaf

People are saying this is not just for wii games but for wiiu games as well.

Technically not. The homebrew is running on the Wii channel inside the Wii U (which basically reboots the system into a Wii).

As osed125 said. I've seen some site speculate about future WiiU hacks but at the moment it's merely the Wii emulator in WiiU. Which is nice for those with modded Wii's I suppose.

From the comments it seems this key can be used to play wiiu games also. I know they already had hacked to play wii games before but this is a newer development. I am just going by the comments mind you :D I'm no tech guy

The comments only speculate on hints. No-one has actually Wii U homebrew up and running.

If true, though, we could see something more epic than the running war between Sony and hackers over PSP.

These are pretty knowledgable guys tho. I remember when the wii emulator hack came about the gaf thread was real quick to point out that it was just for wii games. Not the case with this. The difference is the key hasn't been released yet.

And apparently Marcan has said the security of the wiiu is just as easy as the wii.

Either way since it's not 100% certain I kept the headline as a "?". I doubt we would know for sure for a while anyway

The links on the comment don't provided any real information (only the video). The only thing this guys had to do is figure out how implement homebrew inside the Wii channel on the Wii U (which can probably be done with a normal SD card).

yeah people are arguing about what this could really mean now. I don't understand most of it lol

either way I hope this is not true. I love my psp so I know first hand how fucking awful the harm done by piracy can be. DOesn't matter which company or which console. I don't approve of it

I don't think the piracy would be as bad on Wii U. PSP's problem (especially early on before PSN really became established, of course, even after that because of the high cost of memory sticks) was that going legit was generally much more inconvenient than piracy, due to UMDs and such. With full digital-download support and full, non-proprietary memory options, it's easier to stay on the straight and narrow here.

Plus Nintendo's going to send the mandatory updates flying in thick and fast.

I hate hackers, plain and simple. I hope it isn't true. But if it is, Nintendo has a fight on their hands. Lets see if they follow Sony's path and try to sue the hackers or just battle them with constant firmware updates. Could be interesting times for Nintendo.
